No I have never seen his payslip. Have you? Further I never 'made up' the figure either. To clarify, Mike suggested he was on £80k, so I used Mike's figure for the bases of my discussion, with Mike. I hope that clarifies that point. Context is everything, cherry picking makes you look daft, sorry.

I would agree it is not 'cheap' c/w Coleman for example. But given we appear to be short of funds, given the manager currently only has 1 year left, then the powers that be might be reluctant to sign players on long term deals, knowing the next manager may not fancy playing them.
So whilst £4m a year isn't 'cheap' it is a lot less than buying someone for £5-25 million, then and paying them £1 -2m a year over 3 or 4 years, only to find the next manager won't play them. As I am sure you are aware, we have had issues with dead wood being on the squad. So yes, it is the cheap end of the scale.

As I have stated elsewhere, I too would prefer the best young fullbacks in the league c/w Ashley Young, however I don't think we have the funds or indeed the structures at the club to make that a possibility, currently. I hope I am wrong.

I hope that clarifies my thoughts, and I hope it gives you a valuable insight into why context is important before jumping to conclusions about what you think someone has said.

There was a 2-2 night match against Leeds, he ended up with a cut face, I think from Alan Smith. Gough looked like he wanted to kill half of their team, he was an absolute beast that night.

Gough put Stellar season in for us, admittedly one of the most dour seasons ever

Did more to relegate us this season than anyone (including the PL) and somehow gets a new contract.
