I feel sorry for Young a bit. It’s not his fault Dyche is using him as a starter rather than back-up and he is just trying to be professional.

His play has been every bit as bad, if not worse, than Myko and Patterson’s though and it’s crazy to see him be preferred over them. Patterson got dropped despite making less mistakes thank Young, yet Dyche prioritises certain players for their experience regardless of their actual performances.

You’re 100% right, Young isn’t picking himself, you can’t blame Young, he’s doing his best. Why drop Paterson after Sheff Utd when he got a great assist for Danjuma’s goal and was no worse defensively than Young had been the last two games? Dyche seems to value his experience.

Also why do we setup with no right winger when Patterson plays so he's alone on the right flank? In the 2-3 games when he's had a winger who he can provide the overlap for and then get cover - he does well.

Instead, Garner at RM so we can be ineffective everywhere. Balance, in a way.

Nightmare of a signing. Worst aspect is that he has the idea he can do more than he's capable of due to performances he put in around 10 years ago. No matter what anyone thinks of Patterson he should be playing week in week out above Young purely because he has youth on his side and the potential to improve.

Terrible game today. Struggled mighterly
I can just about see the logic in him signing as a back up player for a few roles, but for Dyche to shoehorn him in based on professionalism rather than actual footballing ability is utterly bizzare.

He's not the Ashley Young of even 2 seasons ago, let alone 10.

It's stubbornness like this that suggests Dyche needs sacking. I get that managers need to be stubborn, but not to the detriment of the team through obviously poor selections.

Nothing against Young. He's trying. It's all on the man who picks him.
