2024/25 Ashley Young

Egg, the word that stands out in your post is "winger"........ And that is where the problem lays...He is not a fullback.
Coleman like young has lost is pace but Coleman doesn't dive in and get caught square on like young

…I am just pointing out that it’s a shame he’s continued his career a bit too long.

On your other point, some of the greatest full backs in history started their careers on the wing and Young himself was very decent when first converted (SAF also switched Antonio Valencia to good effect). Thats not the issue here.

Should never play for us again after consistently letting the side down - by far the absolute weak point of our team no matter where he is played.

But obviously he'll be straight back in because of his extensive Premier League experience and because he's a 'utility, Jack-of-all-trades' player.

Yet another braindead Everton decision to continue to lash around £50-odd thousand a week on him. I bet some lids in the Gwladys could genuinely do a better job.

At this point, Dyche is absolved of blame IMO.

Getting him in, yes, no doubt that’s partially on him. The renewal of his contract this summer sits squarely at the feet of Thelwell.

Any DOF worth a toss looks at Youngs pathetic displays last year and counts down the days til his contract expires and the turd can be flushed. Not our esteemed DOF.

Yes Dyche is picking him but he shouldn’t still be here to allow Dyche to make that call.

Any manager worth a toss looks at his displays and doesn't start him though.

We have very limited options at rb on Saturday but unless our only other option was to start with 10 men he shouldn't have played

Beat me to it… Was editing my post as you replied lol.

As DOF, Thelwell has ultimate responsibility for the playing squad.

Dino-Dyche will always pick old crap over young potential, that’s proven. So, the decision should be taken out of his hands.

But there's also no doubt that Dyche himself wanted 'Youngy' to remain as he's got a massive hard on for his experience and leadership, so it's on both if we're lashing blame.

The most Sean Dyche transfer and selection piece got renewed for a year and was an instant first team selection, and would've been even if we had a new right back anyway, as whoever it was wouldn't be ready.

Thelwell is weak for allowing Dyche to call the shots and demand he was given an extension. Should’ve been told to gtf.

Thelwell would have spoken to Dyche and asked what shall we do with Young? it's Dyches call whether to offer him a contract or not, same with Coleman, both who should have been shown the door to

What? It's on both of them. Thelwell doesn't renew it if he doesn't have Dyche telling him that he can carry on another year.

But he’s got prem league experience lads.
Experience of ……
being a total liability of having no pace, poor miss timed tackles, caught in possession and just being an aging poor player.
We just have a poor manager who constantly picks him?
