2024/25 Ashley Young

Would disagree a bit with that mate, thought he was really influential from March - May last year.

He’s a bit of a poster boy for ridicule, unfairly a lot of the time and no way we should be starting with 39 year full back and no way he should be playing every game - but that’s more on the club then the player himself.

He's the same age as Modric, but not on the same level. He doesn't play every game 90min anymore of course, but still on a good level. I hoped he becomes a Modric on Everton level. He showed some his class in the last 3 games, but had many very bad games as well. I remember 3-4 good games of him last him RS home and Villa of course.

I don't care about age, a player should play when he deserves it.

March when he barely got any minutes, April when he stopped playing in defence and was playing RM/RW.
May when we finally had a run of games against relegation fodder and he looked allright. Did play well in the derby.

He should have given away 3 penalties in one of our biggest games of the season. You must be on a wind up.

He’s been utterly dreadful for 90% of his time here despite the two decent games he’s managed to string together in a row recently.

I loved it when he was discussing one of United's players and said, 'you can't make challenges like that when you are on a yellow card.'. He either has no self awareness or a great sense of humor.
Does it trouble you at all that you can't tell? It does me. Tho i lean humour.
I feel bad for the guy. Some of the stick he has received from so-called Everton "supporters" has been grotesque.
I've always felt this about a number of past their prime players such as Tim Howard, jagielka, Seamus Coleman, who have all received stick for being old.

For me, I hate to see him enter the field and while I have not booed, I could see doing so to send a message to dyche that we don't want to see him selected. Opinions vary.

I'm more convinced than ever now that Young has something incriminating on Dyche, which he uses to extort himself a position in the starting XI.

Young must have stumbled onto Dyche's secret weekend hobby which must be something really bad, like Dyche enjoys dressing in drag and performing in cabaret shows. And Young had the sense of mind to snap a few pics on his phone. 🤦‍♂️
What’s wrong with dressing in drag and performing in cabaret shows
I I mean lots of people do that surely

I would like Young to stay at the club after he finishes playing, he seems to be influential in the squad and certainly won't lack for knowledge or experience.
Seamus is the same, both can play big parts in the future of the club.

We just should not be regarding them as first choice options. They would be useful as cover but no more than that.

This is the crux of the point im making really, he hasn't been as bad as is often suggested by some and he has had influential periods and times were his experience has been influential in small margins of getting results, there have been times when hes looked like a 39 year old full back. My take really is its a sad reflection on the club that he was our only full back option (if he was ever a full back) against Leicester - none of which is fault for the stick he gets and impact hes made.

We should only be playing him the odd time and no way he should be starting at 39.
