I think we will struggle to deal with their intensity. If we start as slowly as we did against Burnley we'll be 2 down before we know it. It's a decent test to see if Benitez can change the mindset. My prediction would be 3-1 to Villa
The only reason we started slow against Burnley was they purposefully slowed everything - they were time wasting and fouling repeatedly from the first minute.
This game will be more similar to Leeds away imo, at time frantic with both teams trying to attack and counter at all times.

Can’t imagine either team will start slow here.

Seems a number of our forum members are famous (kind of):

lol
Really weird seeing their media purposely pulling out all the positive quotes and ignoring my comment of us slapping them all over the park.
Normally our local media would focus entirely on negative fan opinion, interesting…

Be very interesting what team/formation we go with for this.

You could literally see the reasoning behind any of 433, 442, 343.

433 for me is the most balanced, 442 is if we really want to go for it and 343 for if we want to try keep it tight and take a point / try nick a win late on.

Could see a similar situation to Monday where he set up to frustrate for the first 60+ minutes before switching it and trying to nick a result later on.

Pickford
Coleman - Mina - Keane - Digne
Doucoure - Allan
Townsend - Iwobi - Gray
Richarlison

I reckon we see something like that tomorrow, Gomes possibly in for Iwobi. Think Godfrey will be rotated out with us sitting deep
Yes I think that will be our back four, I think Gomes starts and possibly Iwobi for Townsend for a rest.

Scoring 2 goals in both away games so far, I'm confident we can do it again

1 point at Villa will be a good result, but we have momentum, long may it continue

2-3 victory prediction

As long as it starts with a 4, I'm ok with whatever it is.

I would rather 433 for this - could well be 442 with Iwobi behind Richarlison when in possession but becomes almost a 451 when not in position with Iwobi dropping deeper.

Would rather Rondon start with Richy in behind but cant see him starting with his fitness not 100% and QPR around the corner.

I’d probably leave Seamus out and bring Godfrey in at right back.
But what do I know!

Not 100% confident in throwing Gomes back in either, still keep him as a bench option for now. Think Villa will be too mobile for him in MF.

4-3-3 for me. If Rondon had been here a little longer 4-4-2 would be a consideration. The 3rd midfielder should be Gomes but I would try and get Gbamin a run out for last 10-20 minutes. The only way I would consider 3 at the back is Holgate and Godfrey either side of Mina.
