I imagine our(Villa)s' preperation will not include a starting player tearing his acl 24 hours before the game gets played again. I don't know if we will play with the famous high line as much now that Mings is out. Think Jaden Philogene gets a start as well

Villa are there for the taking - you don't concede five goals in a game, lose your best CB and recover quickly.

I think our counter play will be crucial to this.

If we start DCL and Danjuma, I think we can win.

They score goals... we don't... not expecting anything much from this one. Head says 2-0 but let's see. Give Danjuma a start if Dom's still out.

It's thoroughly depressing seeing every game as a tough game now. Seeing teams that were fighting for the same spots as us, now so much further ahead.

I remember us beating Villa 4-0 at Goodison and their fans clapped them off. We could all see they were going to go down and they finished bottom (relegated along with Newcastle). How since 2016 have we gone so wrong and relegated teams have not only come back up, but built on it and now fight for Europe etc.

It's hard being a blue.

Things can change quickly, Villa, Newcastle and Brighton were all in the championship in 16/17 and 5 years later they're all qualifying for europe under new and dynamic ownership so this is what this club needs (preferably not from a blood thirsty state though) and new ground hopefully gives a further nudge forward.

Going to be yet another season of endless pain in bottom 6 before that happens though, club really is circling the drain at prem level now and eventually you get sucked down the plughole.

If we somehow get a draw, would we see that as a good result?

How could it not be? The draws at Chelsea, Leicester, Palace and Wolves were in the run in just as important as beating Bournemouth.

When a club settles for just winning two away games a season then every single point on the road is pretty good and Dyche has at least delivered there, pretty sure the only away league defeats under him have been at the Swamp, Arsenal and Man. United so he is doing o.k on the road with all the limitations of the squad.

This is a good time to play us.

Its difficult to get over how much the loss of Mings has done not just for the morale of players and fans alike, but how much he contributes to our successes on the pitch. In something like 15 games without Mings we've won just a couple of them (or something like that), he really is important to how we play. When we got promoted a few seasons back people enthused about grealish, and righty so, but it was the presence of Mings at the back that made all the difference. other than in the mind of that tit Gerrard, he has been central to us improving every season. I think it may take us some time to get over losing his leadership, aerial abilitiy, and control of the back line.

We have got Torres in and as good as he'll probably become it will take time. He was never going to replace mings but our system would evolve to allow them both in at the same time. It may also be unsettling for Konsa who has had Mings next to him for so long, to have a new face and a nw voice next to him. Konsa will need to be the leader in that position (of the two centre-halves) but that's not his game. So, it'll be a quiet defender and a complete beginner in the Prem. Hence it will be a few months before we settle into a groove I reckon.

On top of that injuries to Moreno, Ramsey, Buendia have put us on the back foot. I think we'll go with something like:

Martinez - Cash/Konsa/Torres/Digne - Kamara/Luiz/Tielemans - McGinn - Diaby - Watkins

Could even see Coutinho come in as he's been very good in pre-season. We're a bit of a mess with these injuries and our shape is a little all over the place because of them. As I said, its a great time to be playing us and I think we'll lose and draw a few before we get on a roll. We weren't as bad as 5-1 last week until the 3rd went in (and then cash must an open goal to make it 3-2), and then fell apart badly without leadership at the back. I think we'll lose 1-2.

Pickford

Patterson
Tarkowski
Branthwaite
Young

Gana

Iwobi
Garner
Onana
Danjuma

Dcl

Is what i would go for…
If those players are available then I think we'd all go for something similar....maybe swap Iwobi and Garner around....but there are such big doubts hanging over DCL and Danjuma. Can only see them coming off the bench for this one.
