What’s everyone’s best solutions to this mess in midfield while we’re missing Delph /Gbamin ..for me drop Sigurdsson play Bernard off the strikerin that role just to give us something though the middle because everything goes wide and mings was dealing with crosses particularly from
Coleman very easily..Davies also would have contributed more than Gomes last night who for me should have been hooked off at half time

Sell Scheids - play Davies - drop Ricky and play Moise next to DCL.

Or maybe and quite a few would probably agree here...our strikers aren't that good?

I wouldn't judge any of my teachers because I couldn't be arsed in school, not their fault I left with hardly any quals, I didn'tput the effort in.
Having had a good eight hours of sleep I didn't wake in a haze of gloom and doom. I remember how good Villa played against Spurs, and Bournemouth too. Sloppy defending let them down. They tightened up their defence and we struggled to break it down. Nevertheless we still had at least three good chances to score.

The disappointment I felt was not winning and going top, but even in the Walter Smith days we'd start well, only to slowly drop down the table. If we could finish so well last season with what was basically last night's starting Xl, imagine how we'll finish this season. It's all about developing the squad, and that doesn't happen three games into a season with good signings that are neither match fit, nor used to the players around them.

I still say too six is achievable this season but top eight is still OK as long as we're not 10-15 points adrift.

Did we not miss chances before? All i'm saying is you/we don't know if he is a good coach.

You’re right, I don’t. I’m not working at the club, and I only watched last nights game on a stream.

I’m just frustrated, like the majority, and trying to identify ‘route causes’ from a distance.

In my ‘work world’ if something is going wrong we try and identify the cause. We were, on balance, better than Villa.... but couldn’t score ‘sitters’.

Villa won't get an easier 3 points this season. There is no intent to our attacking, predictable and responsibility-free.

It doesn't seem to matter who the owner, DoF, manager or players are we don't start the season looking ready.

Completely agree. Yes it's early days but why do we always have to play catch up?

Absolutely not. The issue has been in attack.
Wow, you can't see how slow and pedestrian we are in midfield? This changes the whole system and thus affects the intensity of our attacking flair. Scheiderlin, Gomes and Iceland are too static for Everton to make any progress this season. It needs to be addressed by Silva soon or we will descend into another barren spell of confidence sapping relegation form. Gueye is a huge miss. He gave us that vital midfield energy that the premiership requires to win games.

No... we've made one mistake at the back and been punished.

Our problem is 0 goal threat
We are zero goal threat because of being slow and pedestrian in midfield? This changes the whole system and thus affects the intensity of our attacking flair. Scheiderlin, Gomes and Iceland are too static. It needs to be addressed by Silva soon. Gueye is a huge miss. He gave us that vital midfield energy that the premiership requires to win games

Gone Iwobi, looked promising at least, the others?most of them didn't want to know unfortunately, we played into Villas hands and got their crowd up for it.

True about the midfield. I kept thinking last night that even Besic at his best would be an improvement ,at least he ran around a lot and looked forward. I'm sorry to say I think we've lost Gomes, his heads gone. We will, must get better but how much better I'm not sure. And I don't blame Silva...last night was entirely down to the players. A good opening 20 minutes, then Villa scored, and we lost it from that moment. Encouraging signs from Iwogi and Kean,at least they tried. I hope Lincoln is not a banana skin. We don't seem to be able to cope with teams that are prepared to fight, even if they have less quality than us.
