Think we need 2 new starting CM anyway.
 
If we are to try to attract top players we cannot expect other teams not to be interested in them. A player who supposedly has some top teams interested ,is a player who we should be interested in. How anyone can call him a tit etc when not one of us ( and I mean everyone on here) hasn't got a clue where we are at with this player or any player. Now that everton is mentioned with a range of players we have to get use to the fact the they are just rumours. This didnt happen before as we were broke .The media need their clicks and so will say that agreements are made etc with a particular club only to come back 2 days later and say the same story with another club. I would be hoping that any player we bring in is better that the player we have got already in the same position. We don't need back ups. We need to progress.

yeh I see that's the sentiment from most people on here. Personally I only see us 'needing' one, with the caveat we also got somebody like Mata or Sigurdsson in, which allows Barks to double as CM.

However, if we end up with two in I won't be complaining.

Don't think it comes down to if we 'need' two or not mate, it is more that Koeman seems to want two - and differing types of cm as well, so would expect the club to at least try its best to fulfill what he wants

An ours would appear to have been the first on the table. Its been 3 weeks and he hasnt decided so that would suggest he isnt buying in to our project. Which i have no issue with its his choice. I dont want us to be the offer he takes in the end just because of the samw money not beimg offered by some where he really wanys to go. We need players that are coming with something to prove and are going to give it all.

I know Mane was getting a massive pay-rise and it stands to reason that Wijnaldum will be getting at least parity with what he was on at Newcastle.

They could certainly afford to offer Witsel the wages.

They pay a fair whack like, but since FSG they have apparently been loading the players contracts with incentive bonuses to make up for a lower guaranteed wage, so strictly speaking can be outbid by anyone just offering the wages up front to them, may explain why they seem to lose out to any other team who wants the same player
