We better move on to other targets too. If he rejects us towards the end of window we are poised to sign panic buys with no time left.

That is not always a bad thing - in fact sometimes it helps you to unearth little gems like................. err

err

err

erm

oh dear...............Niasse!

We just need 1 big name to make the jump, ala Robinho at city.

Others will follow its just the first is is the hardest.
If mata was here already then i would imagine Witsel wouldn't be in russia right now.

Rom and kev are here as well so he knows them. But if mata was here as well as them then it would have pursuaded him it isn't a pipedream we are chasing. Sadly without that as you say we are a team of kones/barrys/gibsons

Funnily enough, I've been thinking Fellaini back at the right price might be worth considering...he would certainly fit in, and I think supporters would on the whole welcome him back.

He was roundly booed at Wembley in the semi final and that was before he had scored.

You would assume that our management are aware of the situation and have other ideas if needed.

From what i am aware it won't be long before we know either way.

Doubt Witsel would be eager to sign just because we signed someone off UTD who cant make the Spain squad

Carvalho and Koulibaly may motivate him though.

Surely Witsel is allowed to weigh up his options. Let's not turn into that lot thinking everyone should jump at the chance to play for us. The lad didn't grow up on county road, the only way we are gonna entice players at the moment is with money, there is no other reason top players will play for everton yet unfortunately

Weighing up his options is fine, but not when he is waiting for Zenit to agree on his preferred move to Inter or Napoli.
Everton cannot afford to wait around for two/three weeks for a player to make up his mind. Does Everton's project only seem well when its the last option ?
If he is only using us as a fall back option instead of option once Napoli falls through then I am not interested in the guy. I know many others are starting to feel the same.

Why not? Mata may not be classed as world class but he is still a massive upgrade to what is already at the club.

which is what i mean, signs that we are signing much better players and not ones from the hhungarian league, or relegated teams or aging players etc

Surely the whole point of signing Walsh is that we sign the next Vardy/Kante, we don't need a DOF to identify the likes of Witsel or Mata as decent players?

Not a DOF expert by any stretch but agree with what you say. Just not sure that unearthing and signing the next Vardy is just around the corner, its also in no way guaranteed and I also doubt it will calm the baying crowds who are starting to gather at the gates of fume for this transfer window.

We need to get in some known quality in some key positions to take us forward and up a level and as someone has just said in another thread if bobby gets the Tigers job after his interview today then hopefully we can shed a bit more of the dead wood too.
