Transfer Rumour Axel Witsel

I'm convinced we could make a Leo Messi transfer saga drag out until the point where I lose all enthusiasm, so my enthusiasm for signing Witsel was certainly drained long ago.

Either sign or don't, you brillo-haired biff.

Witsel is just poorly advised, the difficulty is it can significantly effect his career.
I wonder if it is poor advice, or if hes just a money grabber. if hes just a money grabber why isn't he coming as quick as his little legs will carry him to sign up if we're offering more than anyone. this one really is weird. he goes off to Russia (you only go there for money right?) now he wont come to a better league for more money?

At some point, blues are going to have to accept the fact that we're not going to sign players who will necessarily die for the shirt.

We're going to sign mercenaries who don't care.

And you know what? That's fine, because a lot of the time, that means success and it brings its own success.

It's nice when you can have a bit of both though; quality and reciprocated affection. It's why Gerard Deulofeu makes me tingle in special places.

Yes,

I hope we do.
as long as they want money AND want to win i'm fine with it. what we don't want are people on huge wages who get here and don't perform because they just wan the money and have no interest in earning it. If they don't care about the club before they get here (i'm sure they will after being here :)) but actually want to try and win for themselves and their career that's all good by me

And too Funes Mori. I think we can balance them but we're going to get players who are arsed about money and winning and they're going to take the mick.

A lot of people will have to accept that.

Big transfer tend to take forever and the euros doesn't help as players then go on holiday after it.

This one has been going on since before Koeman was appointed, how do we know Koeman even wants him.

In this day and age, you're absolutely right. It's a tough ask.

I'd look at City to be honest. They have a lot of big money players but not too many whoppers, and some who give it everything and seem like decent role models. Every player is a mercenary by some yard stick -- it's their job so of course money is important to them -- but it's possible to still sign sound players who won't cause the club too much hassle. And let's not forget, you don't need to be a superstar to be a tit.

City is full of over paid players who won't leave because they get a whopping great bonus at the end of their contracts

You're quite right but I was talking about the attitude of their key players. For the superstars they are, they're generally pretty good pros. Aguero, Silva, Kompany. Of course then you have Yaya Toure, but I still think they do better than most clubs when it comes to signing world class players who aren't complete whoppers.

I think the more important threads, like this one, should have sound tracks when you open them up.
I would like to propose 'It must have been love but it's over now' for this one. It's catchy, but has a melancholy feel, with two parties moving on, one (Everton) slightly more crushed than the other (Witsel)
