Transfer Rumour Axel Witsel

Don't understand this. He is a grown adult and has no clue of appointing people as representative?? Or did he sign 10 power attorney to 10 different people. I am lost here.

It's interesting this, and it's happened to a number of sports people over the years, understandably in one sense - they're just young men with huge salaries and no real idea of the outside world. The great Arnold Palmer grew so friendly with his pilot that he used to take him into meetings with him rather than have him hang around the airport. It got to the stage where the pilot got involved in negotiations. This was before Mark McCormack of IMG fame stepped in.

Witsel is just poorly advised, the difficulty is it can significantly effect his career.

At some point, blues are going to have to accept the fact that we're not going to sign players who will necessarily die for the shirt.

We're going to sign mercenaries who don't care.

And you know what? That's fine, because a lot of the time, that means success and it brings its own success.

Agree 100% about this, we will have players that will but not every player we sign will have that attitude. Think a few Evertonians need to realise this and change their attitude. We aren't plucky little Everton who try dead hard but fail anymore (well I hope so)

Connor nails it.

I'm just about old enough to remember Olivier Dacourt and Marco Materazzi.

Surely players themselves have to take ultimate responsibility for the group of people they pay to advise/represent them?

I can appreciate that with multi-million pound contracts in the offing, players will have several advisors but if these same people are tripping each other up it can't be in the players interest.

Witsel is the key here nobody else - it seems beyond obvious that he should assert himself to get the move he wants, if there is an offer on the table from that club.

I'd be delighted if it was announced he was staying in Russia, or going to Italy, today, as opposed to another week of this.

An example of everything that is wrong with modern football this, too many "hangers-on" each trying to justify their cut of the fee.

By his dad Thierry? Might he be the person involving the different advisors?

Some times not caring helps you to just get the job done. As much as I would love to score the winner against Liverpool I would probably explode in a ball of joy confetti such would be my emotional instability!

Hopefully a mix of both.

We don't have EL football never mind CL football, if we want to compete for players with the likes of Juventus and Napoli we need to be offering big wages as these players didnt grow up sitting in the boys pen or care for supping Chang in the park end.

Yes,
