Transfer Rumour Axel Witsel

You are misreading the situation mate. If he wasn't interested in coming to Everton (even if Juve is his favourite destination) he'd be telling the world he doesn't want to come thereby negating our bid with Zenit. That would leave the door open for his move.

He hasn't done that, which to me means he might prefer Juve but if they won't bud as high as us he will come to Goodison.
He will be the axle around which our new midfield will turn

If Pogba is sold Juve may upper their bid. His non commitment to our offer is a reflection on his preference to join Juve. How long shall we wait till he makes the decision? Even he made one for the third time will his agents add terms to the contract again...just hope this goes one way or another asap.

During the summer transfer window, I find myself waking up at like 4 AM instinctively (I live in the US) to see if anything has happened. My body has been conditioned to wake up for Everton transfer rumors. It's sad, I know.
How do you view politics in the US? Both your presidential candidates are straight from a sitcom. The end of the world is nigh.

I'd imagine stuff like this happens all the time. We just don't hear about it.

If you believe any of the rubbish coming out of the Witsel camp you're naive. He's stalling to try and get other clubs and\or Juventus to come in for him and agree terms with Zenit. It's obvious.

Unless you believe what Witsel said about having loads of random people, claiming to be agents and trying to sell him to other clubs.

The only reason he hasn't rejected us is in case no one else comes in and agrees a fee with Zenit. He's probably trying to convince Zenit to accept the lower offer from Juve or get them to increase their offer.

The idea of an agent stalling a major transfer, against the wishes of his client, sounds beyond believable to me. He can just sack his agent if he dislikes what he's doing that much. If Juve increase their bid watch how long it'll take his transfer to complete. It'll be done within days imo and his agent won't have any contractual issues that need addressing, despite them offering his client worse terms. Strange that ...

Wow. I guess we support our clubs very differently. I would be very happy if he joined and I will be optimistic that he will succeed in taking us up to the next level.
I think you missed my point.

Given the circumstances, he's never going to live up to expectations.

He's obviously a good player. But after all this, unless he's a great player, he'll never live up to what's expected.

Thats all brilliant. But why did you tag me in bro?

Surely there are other central midfielders around for £25m, Witsel has messed us around enough. We should give him a 48 hour deadline, sign or not, it must be pretty obvious to most people he has eyes elsewhere. If Pogba is sold, he will simply go to Juventus, who will then have the money. We should show a bit of dignity in this charade.

It's a bit weird how people get angry that a player has the cheek to want to wait for the best offer for him. How dare he look out for his own career.

I'm honestly not arsed if he'd rather go to Juve. I would too. Unfortunately the Lisbon and Popworld doesn't quite have the same draw as Juventus.

If he does decide to join us then I'll be extremely happy, because he's a very good player and it will show we as a club have the intention to be far better than we have been in recent years.

We have no right to expect players to be massively attracted to a club who have won sod all in twenty years.

Do we know what Witsel's wishes are?

Don't forget that a transfer is multi-faceted. The amount the player (and the agent) get upon signing, and the potential for a lucrative contract extension and pay increase. At present, Everton could offer £x per week, but we don't have the immediate title winning/CL prospects that could lead to a bumper salary increase for new signings in a year or two.

Therefore, whilst a player may think Everton look like a nice club to play for and offer a good salary, the agent may well have a different agenda.
