Transfer Rumour Axel Witsel

I'll back Witsel 100% if he signs, regardless of the extent that he appears to be stringing us along here.

I have never been struck that he is that decent to the extent we are going the extra mile and some more to get him but I haven't seen a huge amount of him either.

If he does sign and we are in the middle of a bad run of results I can inevitably see his father speaking the the Belgian media, during the international break;

"I warned my son not to join Everton"

There are two prices to be paid for Belgian players; 1) Their monetary worth 2) Having to tolerate their extraordinary propensity to sulk and moan in articles that are lost in translation.

Don't think too many inside football (as opposed to the media) really think Lukaku is leaving tbh.

Yes, but I'm sure that Witsel will have asked Lukaku about Everton, maybe back at the time of the Euros, and Lukaku would have told him about his desire to leave and "win things at a bigger club" etc etc. Whether Lukaku leaves or not, is it not likely to have had a lasting impression on Witsel?

The Esk doesn't know mate. Nobody does whether he's spoken to him, unless your name is Romelu Lukaku.

Alternatively he may have said 'great club, great fans - big opportunity and Moshiri has convinced me and Raiola that I should stay'

If Lukaku was determined to leave we'd be hearing a lot from his Father and others. The fact is that we are not - why? Because he's prepared to sign a new contract.

This has gone on for too long. Too much of the Eto'o about this one.

I'm out.

Your mate is correct! Furthermore it appears Juve have made no official bids nor are likely to do so.

Lets hope so, be a great signing and we have definitely done well, we just have more financial power than the Italian teams now! Exciting times ahead ;)

Has Rom really had his head turned that much by us? Or is it a case of the 'bigger clubs' not coming in for him? He hasn't exactly been vocal in saying how much he is looking forward to the new season at Everton and working with Koeman.

Going back 6+ weeks to the time of the Euros, Lukaku was still looking for a move away, was in daily contact with Witsel in the Belgian camp, and news of our interest in Witsel would have been reaching him. I've no idea what footballers talk about, but strikes me that Witsel might well have asked "what about Everton then, any good for me".

should have just asked his dad

Yet to see any evidence of this..

these signings take time of course, were trying to sign a player used to the champions league and good enough to play in it to sign for us, not as easy as it probably seems we evidently are the only club to get a bid accepted, am sure if it doesn't go through soon we will have alternatives
