Transfer Rumour Axel Witsel

Has Rom really had his head turned that much by us? Or is it a case of the 'bigger clubs' not coming in for him? He hasn't exactly been vocal in saying how much he is looking forward to the new season at Everton and working with Koeman.

Going back 6+ weeks to the time of the Euros, Lukaku was still looking for a move away, was in daily contact with Witsel in the Belgian camp, and news of our interest in Witsel would have been reaching him. I've no idea what footballers talk about, but strikes me that Witsel might well have asked "what about Everton then, any good for me".

Not necessary for me to say I don't know anything (!) but I agree with the thrust of your post. It would be nice to hear Lukaku come out and say something positive. We saw a sustained media campaign on his behalf for several weeks with the purpose of getting him out of the club.

There is an air at present of Lukaku staying because no club would make a suitable offer, and Witsel, if he does sign, doing so because he has "no alternative". I'm sure Witsel will say all the right things if he finally does arrive but you feel at present like its more through bribery than desire.

I can see Darren Griffiths on Everton TV with Witsel;

"Axel, welcome to Everton Football Club. What was it that persuaded you to come to Everton?"

"The money, of course!"

"Who did I sign for again, I forgot?"

"Everton, Axel. So, tell us what you know about Everton..."

"Well, er, I know Everton is a club in the Premier League, a big club, good fans..."

"You've surely spoken to your mate Romelu Lukaku. Share with us some of the things he told you about Everton."

"He said Everton finished 5th a few years ago, and that it's possible to earn good money by saying you want to leave then getting a new contract and acting like you want to stay after all."

"You mentioned the fans a second ago. I bet you just can't wait to meet the Goodison faithful, right?"

"Yeah. How much am I earning by the way?"

Conspiracy theory time.

We and Chelsea are apparently both after koulibaly, are offer is better, player is open to either.
Media now has Chelsea taking our best player splashed all over the show , with no substance to back up they are actually bidding, and by linking this move with Costa going to Madrid, ignoring the fact they just signed a 30m quid striker a few days ago.

Chi ess whispers designed to get koulibaly ahead of us by showing us as a selling Club?

Can't being helping too much if Lukaku, a player who could sell the club's new ambition to Witsel, is himself linked with leaving.

But if he isnt leaving and he's signing a new contract, he will want to be surrounded by the best calibre of player we can get so he may be telling Witsel what a great move it will be and Koeman's/Moshiri's plans for the future.

To be fair, Witsel is a tit.

Might be aboss player but he is a tit, makes us look like mugs as well. He was waiting for Napoli, he is waiting for juventus, waiting for inter milan.

How about we just tell him to keep waiting then and go sign someone else?

Witsel owes us absolutely nothing and, at 27, is about to make what will possibly be the last major move of his career as a top level player. Makes sense to hold off and see what options he has.

Still, if he signs, just to be safe, we should call him Witless and boo him every time he touches the ball.

Juventus and Everton are his two preferences. If Juventus drop out the race, and by all accounts they will, he will sign for Everton.

But why wouldn't he hold out to see if Juve can make a deal happen? Can people please stop being so sensitive about Juventus(!) being a far more glamorous destination than Everton.

Rom wants to leave mate, he always has, the only one saying anything about him staying was Mino, which i feel was just to force chelsea to pay 75m, so he gets another ridiculous cut the fat grub. dont hold your breath waiting for him to say something positive, if anything, im expecting him to run his mouth again in the coming days...

This is why im worried... we have witnessed cthe man city take over... warchests etc, exactly the same position we have found ourselves in... but city was signing the likes of robinho, and had stars at the club that bought into the project and got city to where they are today... us everton on the other hand, cant hold onto our stars, cant sign any new stars and really dont have alot to be optimistic about with 12 days till kickoff... youve got to ask yourself, why are players not lining up to be apart of the new era? has bobby really done that much damage? or is mosh taking us all for a ride? ive got all my eggs in the walsh basket, lets see what happens.

What a load of rubbish.

Go and sign somebody else because he has the temerity to look after his own career instead of signing for us because we want him.

Bobby/BK have done much damage. Moshiri's no sheik in wealth. No comparison to Man City here.
