Transfer Rumour Axel Witsel

I can't see why they wouldn't make up that difference to be honest.

not enough money in the bank haha

just bump pogba up to £120m from £112m like we did with the fellaini and mccarthy situation ha As if united would say, £112m is fine, but £112m is too much.

EDIT it said 7m euros, so it'd be less than what i said.

I just think it has taken too long to make a decision. Perhaps like some posters said if we need better footballers to upgrade our team we need to wait. Once it approaches the transfer deadline, their options run out then they might come. In the end two 11th place finish in a row was a deep damage to our club in attracting better players.
He is the sort of big name that could be the spark for others to join. You have to be hopeful that once one of our big targets see someone jumping in then they will stop dipping their toes and join them. We have to show patience in what could be a key signing for us both on and off the field.

Something odd that happened on the OS earlier - the First Team squad list. It jumped up to 4 pages but Tarashaj and Stekelenburg disappeared - has now been restored to what it was previously. If they're editing the squad list, something could be close.

Grasping at straws are we?

I am not sure that any of us really know what is going on with the Witsel situation or indeed with Carvalho.
I am sure that if we had no chance and had been told so by the player and his agent we would have moved on. Just as I am sure there is a plan B.
But, I notice on the SKY transfer website there is no mention of Witsel or Carvalho or really very little mention of us doing much business at all.

We assume that the club is working towards the start of the season as a deadline to get players in but it may be that the manager is looking at September 1st unless something falls in place before that.

I think what I find most surprising is the almost total lack of players being linked to us by credible sources like SKY. The tabloid newspapers print so much rubbish it is to decipher when they have a genuine story. But, SKY are reasonably reliable in what is a very unreliable transfer market.

We are tentatively linked with Ashley Williams and Martins Indi but they are mentioned because of the probable sale of John Stones.
Sky are utter turd as a source for anything unless it's basically a done deal and about to be announced, God help you if you think they are reliable.

564 pages of yes, no, maybe, no, no, not bothered, yes he is great, yes, no, maybe, napoli, yes, no, juventus, yes, no, robbie brady, no, no, no, virgins, no, no, bed wetting, maybe, he's rubbish, esk is crap, yes, no, maybe, juventus, napoli, yes, no. Signs new deal at Zenit

For the sake of an extra €7m, juve will get witsel if they want it. If witsel is determined to get his move to juve, he could easily change his wage demands over the course of 4 year contract, to compensate for the shortfall, with juve upping their contribution to match zenit's asking price.

Zenits thinking: Why would we sell him for less than we can get otherwise? We dont care where he goes, we just want the highest offer.
Juve's thinking: Why would we offer more for him, he wants to come to us, and they cant move him unless he agrees to go somewhere.
Witsel's thinking: Why wouldnt I demand to go to where I want, they have to sell me this window, or they get nothing for me, and if its 7 mill less, too bad for Zenit, as its better than 0, and Ill just threaten to not move anywhere.
Everton's thinking: We offered the most for him, stand pat, eventually Zenit has to sell to us, as we are much higher than Juve.

Itll all come down to the last week, because up until then everyone holds cards. This may likely be a standoff. Once the last week show up, either Zenit or Witsel have all of the cards. If Zenit can wait out Juve(which they want to do) so that Juve are no longer willing to wait, and buy a CM, and thus no longer have interest in Witsel, Zenit get what they want and sell him to Everton. If it gets to that point and Juve are still interested, Witsel holds the cards, as Zenit then have to choose between a lower fee, or getting 0 for him.
