Transfer Rumour Axel Witsel

Can see why Witsel is taking his time over this, if he's a young lad 22/23, it's an easier decision to buy into the 'project' but he's 27 now, and at his peak, so his next move is a massive, massive decision for him.

Another good thing about all this is, it seems like Witsel is focusing more on what is the best for his career, not how much dosh he can get.

Witsel makes me sick. He's playing us like a badly made lute and making us seem like a bunch of two-bit goblins with his refusal to sign that lovely contract we've definitely offered him months ago according to someone on the internet. Move on to someone that wants to play in the royal blue ffs like Dave Nugent (good blue him). Kenwrong. FFS.

my understanding is we could sign Mata, Witsel and Carvalho for a combined £90m tomorrow (should they want to sign), but we couldn't compensate for the inevitable rise in the wage bill without breaching the FFP regulations, unless we raise our revenue this year. I believe that means the tax year as well (@The Esk) can clarify, so that could either be by selling a player now or in January.

As I said though, the best way in the long term is through sponsorship to raise revenue and that's what will happen. In the short term though we have to accept that it's likely a major asset will need to be sold.
So in a way we don't HAVE to sell this window, but may in jan if our stocks are down? Funny you talk about sponsorship, been questioning all day why our club officials are so happy that William hill are now a major sponsor, ffs they have their own Jersey and number lol

If he had wanted to come to us then he and his agent would have made more noise, their aim seems to be set on Serie A.

Equally, in fact more than equally, if he did not wish to hold us an option he would have made that known leaving the route clear for Juve to negotiate a deal with Zenit.

Could be, but think he is still playing an option game as his main aim is leave Russia and go Serie A.

Sack him off - Everton are no-ones plan B and we should go all out to get either Kovacic or Brozovic. Either of those are better than pube head

It's pretty clear that he favours Juve and regardless of Zenit's current stance, given he's in his last year of contract they WILL sell him. If he hangs on, they will have little choice but to accept a lower offer from Juve or another club to make sure they make what they can.
