Baines Flattered by United Link

You can talk about rebuilding all you want, but that doesn't change the fact that we're gradually chalking off all the reasons to enjoy watching us.

No transfer saga a la lescott, no last day deal with no hope of getting replacements a la arteta. The fee is decent and being honest, we as good as knew one of our big names would go. As gutting as this is and as hard as it is to do, with Bill et al in charge we should be thanking our lucky stars for the above. We can do our business early for once and we have the money to do some good spending.

I'd still sell Rodwell if a bid of £8m came through and still hope someone buys Anichebe and Yobo and then we could see what Moyes is like with a good £20m to blow and time to do it in.

Didn't want to sound blase about this btw, I just did my fuming/cry-wanking for this a month ago.

We played some fantastic football without Baines towards the end of the season, and a big name was either going to go this season or next season for sure.

I'd have been far more upset if Fellaini was the one going. Get rid of Big Vic for £2m to Wigan, and Yobo for £2m and you've got £22m. Lets say we give the banks £7m of that, still leaves Moyes £15m to bring in new players. As long as Moyes avoids another Bily and brings in talent like Distin/Heitinga/Jelavic/Gibson/Pienaar with those funds then we'll still be worth watching.

I mean Gibson, Jelavic, and Pienaar (first transfer) combined cost the club less than £10m. Moyes can work wonders.

Our crap starts to the season are a far bigger concern on that front really.

It will be disappointing if/when Baines goes but hopefully Moyes will make the most of it and we can get a number of quality players in and improve the squad so we can challenge for Europe next year.

Honestly the more I think about this, the angrier I get.

He's one of the very few world class players I've got to watch play for us at Everton, he wants to stay and we're getting rid to pay off the bills. The Board can Koff right off.

INTERESTINGS? JULIO HEARD BAINES TO UTD FOR 18MILLIONS LAST TUESDAY AS WELL. FROM UNTESTED SAUCE.

It's not just the board to blame for this though mate, it's the reality of being a club without a big wig bankrolling you. Even if we had different people in charge we'd still have to sell to buy, especially with FFP coming into effect.

Exactly this. First time in thirty plus years of supporting Everton I feel like giving it up. Besides, the poor lad doesn't even want to go. Kenwright, the board, Elstone and Moyes should hang their heads in shame. Kunts.

I'd sell Rodwell for £6m even.

Yobo 2
Anichebe 2
Rodwell 6
Baines 18

£20m+ once the Barclays share goes. I'm convinced Moyes could improve the squad with that money.

We could definitely come out stronger in certain areas. We could sort out the whole midfield, bringing in Pienaar and LD and maybe another on the cheap/loan and get a back up striker all for £10m potentially. Then we could look at the two full back posititons with the rest. The good thing about the above is Pienaar and LD will bed straight in and the other one or two would only be back up. The left back has to be a f*cking catch though.

Agreed, it's about making the team equally balanced.

Current squad we have now, with areas needing strengthening in red:
