Must've missed that.

Fair enough. I guess you'll be forgiving the meat-head element of Rangers support their mores from now on. Or never questioning how an Evertonian could support England ever again? Or never ever ever referring the the RS as Tories?

At least your blood pressure will be lower.
Rangers supporters are condemned for bringing their neo-fascist politics into football; Evertonians and England - supporting them / not supporting - them has zero to do with politics and everything to do with local pride; calling Liverpool FC out as a Tory created organisation is just restating a historical fact, it's about as politically controversial as saying Keir Hardie was one of the key figures in the creation of the Labour Party.

Not sure how all that advances your claims. ?‍♂️

Stop mixing football and politics, that's what I say.
By the way, anyone complaining about the Qatari's should know that it was the British Government as imperial power that structured that place and other Emirate societies to be the rancid cesspits they are - and they backed them to the hilt to secure their oil ever since.

Maybe the England team can stick that on their armbands.

FIFA has to have a blanket approach because, though they are supranational body who would no doubt have sympathy for that cause, they know that they deal with the realities of host countries for their tournaments and therefore they take a simple one size fits all approach of having no sort of messaging at all. That's just being pragmatic.

It's really simple for me: take part in the tournament under the organiser's rules or make a stand and dont take up the place your team has secured.

classics now, could pick em up under 8 grand at one point when they fell out of fashion.

Yellow cards reset after 4 games.

England should have subbed off Kane in the 98th minute for the third choice keeper. Sent him on as captain with the rainbow armband. Would have highlighted the issue even more than the original plan.

I am disappointed that all the teams have chickened out of wearing the armbands, but in a way it could be argued that it has achieved even more than it set out to.

The original premise was to highlight the bigotry of the host nation, and the amount of media coverage afforded to the issue has achieved that, but FIFAs response has also shown them to be much more interested in protecting their brand than protecting their members.

Love it, white feathers all round...

old school.

It took one country to stand up to injustice.

Well done Germany, might not win the World Cup, but deserve to be considered as Champions for standing up to injustice when others crumbled to pressure.

Well done to the German interior minister Nancy Faeser wearing the onelove arm band sitting beside Infantino.

Top stuff Germany, an example of bravery to the world. Huge respect.

DFB Statement:

"It wasn't about making a political statement," said the Germany football federation (DFB) on Twitter.

"Human rights are non-negotiable. That should be taken for granted, but it still isn't the case. That's why this message is so important to us.

"Denying us the armband is the same as denying us a voice. We stand by our position."

Manuel Neuer:

"We wanted to use our captain's armband to take a stand for values that we hold in the Germany national team: diversity and mutual respect," added the DFB.

"Together with other nations, we wanted our voice to be heard."

The DFB says it is investigating whether Fifa's threat to sanction players for wearing the armband is legal.

"Fifa has forbidden us from using a symbol of diversity and human rights," said DFB media director Steffen Simon.

"They combined this with massive threats of sporting sanctions without specifying them.

"The DFB is checking whether this action by Fifa was legal."
