Beer, revisited

Coming soon : the official beer of Everton's defence.

Pre taster tonight in The White Star. Drinkable but nothing more. The sweeter side of bitter.

Skinners stuff seems to be hit and miss tbh, even when drank in Cornwall.

It's either sublime or nothing special.

I've heard it doesn't travel too well, hence why you don't often see it in the North.

Love stouts in this weather.
Checked out the Head of Steam on Hanover St after the match, had a very nice pint of Neptune Chocolate and Orange Stout, quite subtle. Cameron's had a cola bottle stout, but I swerved that, I'll wait for the missus to brave that one. Did well on the ales yesterday, Ma Egerton's were knockin' out luscious pints of Rocking Rudolph, surprisingly excellent for basically a Greene King ale. Finished off with JW Lees Christmas Plum Pudding in the Ship and Mitre which was actually a light amber, really good. 'tis the season.

Once you get onto the sweetish stouts it's hard to get off. JW Lees do some great classics.

If any of you ever visit the Baltic Market or near Parliament, Jamaica or Stanhope Street then I'd recommend a visit to 'Craft Minded'.

It's a new tap room based in the old boiler shed of Cains and has a wonderful selection of ales: six craft keg lines and an eclectic array of bottles.

Hopefully if footfall is enough they'll get cask on as well, however right now it's not viable. Really worth a visit though!

Not been to the Ship and Mitre for years, believe they do some nice strong ales, I'll have to give it a Xmas visit.

Chances are that the last time you went, the old Licensee was running the show - massive red nosed grumpy old get.

The people who`ve had it for the past few years, are young and enthusiastic.

They`ve a great range of beers full stop, plus the food is good value too.
