This weekends offerings from North Yorkshire :
Tetley Cask 3.8%
Dark Horse Hetton Pale : 4.3%
Timmy Taylor’s : Bolt Maker 4.3 %
All were fantastic, but the pick of the bunch was the Tetley Cask.
It was like velvet and just shows how good a beer that is often looked due to not being looked after can be.
A celebratoy offering from EB, vanilla, coffee and maple syrup breakfast stout at 10%. Bought four of these so one for the lady of the house then I'll cellar the other two.
I was dabbling with Downton Chimera IPA at the weekend. Not a bad drop, but at 6.8% my heard hurt badly on Sunday.

I do have an unfortunate weakness for high strength brews*. Gulden Draak being one. I'm old enough to know better, but, well, I don't.
*Special Brew can do one though
My mate was drinking a chocolate infused porter. The name escapes me. I tried a taster, bit heavy for me, but surprisingly nice.

I have a couple of these in my stash. ?
Its nice now, but if you can resist temptation I'd hold it for a few years, it tastes just a little bit light, should grow some serious legs as it matures though.
Sampled this stuff a few weeks back. A smokey almost bacony taste to it. Wasn't too sure at first, but it won't me over. There's a specialist ale emporium local to me and I'm slowly working through their offerings.
Nipped into town to grab a last few necessaries and thought 'y'know what? Pint!'
Stopped in the excellent Old Fish Market which always has a good festive vibe, despite the fact that I'm not generally a fan of Fuller's ales.
I went for this:
And what a brew. Malty, chocolatey but with an appealing dry bite, its an excellent dark ale. The manager explained that its only brewed periodically and the Fish is one of only 15 or so pubs entrusted to carry it as its needs a bit of care. Also found discovered Asahi now own the brewery (but not the pubs).
Going down nicely with a chilling read i picked up while shopping for the last of the good lady's prezzies.....

Awesome! I used to live in Bamberg. As you say, Rauchbier is an acquired taste.
Schlenkerla is a great brewery and has a really nice restaurant attached if you’re ever over there
Sounds awesome. I've actually invested in a couple of their Helles lager. Not sampled yet, but I'm sure they'll be decent.
Think you’ll like the Helles. It’s a great little city. About 100,000 people, nine breweries.
