Guinness is a solid and trusted session stout.
I am fan of imperial stouts but as @COYBL25 says, for me they are more of a replacement for a whisky at the end of the night.
There`s two problems that I`ve found with the flavoured stouts :
1. They are normally incredibly strong, so you can only drink one or two max, without falling over.
2. Because they`re so sweet, they make you feel full, really quickly and also if you drink a few, you can feel a bit queasy, so again, you can`t drink many.
I`m a big fan of what the Vocation brewery, have done with their stouts in cans, but I tend to treat their beers, as " the last one of the night " and will only have one before I go to bed.
I particularly like their Temptation Chocolate Stout 6.6%, which I`ll quite often have after I`ve had a decent meal, almost like a pudding wine.
They`re certainly not session beers.
Aye, flavours generally follow the ABV.Yeah to say they are all the same is obviously wrong of me, there are some great ones and vocation do some good ones. But you can mask a not very well made beer with a bit of sugar/fruit syrup
At the end of the day, untappd is a social media and some breweries will make them appealling to that kind of thing which will in turn get good ratings
All that being said, I don't really go under 7% that often with stouts (export stouts, Baltic, porters) lol I'm pretty sure 'stout' traditionally means 'strong' but it ended up just getting linked to dark beer
It is a popular way to drink it C ?I like Guinness with blackcurrant in.
Trusted is the key word here. It's not as nice as many stouts and porters, but the consistency and reliability of it means it's a common drink for me.Guinness is a solid and trusted session stout.

If cask is on, I'll have a look as I prefer it, however we all know it can be hit-and-miss in some less established places. You very rarely have a bad Guinness.
Are you referring to the Extra Cold stuff? Some places have both, coming from the same barrel and through a chiller, but some now only choose to have it.Chilled Guinness is disgusting and if that`s the only thing on offer, I`ll drink soft drinks.
Chilling it, just destroys every ounce of the flavour.
In terms of Stouts and Porters, this time of year the Ship will usually have a good selection on. They have one on most of the year, but you'll now get a selection.

You're right though. It should be a good few degrees warmer, if not room temperature, like it should be.
It’s typically the same barrel as the normal stuff, but it goes through the same type of chiller although made cooler. A complete and utter fad.Yes, the extra cold stuff, it`s disgusting and a crime against beer.
Some places even charge a bit more for it too !
Oh yes mate what you been upto.It is a popular way to drink it C ?
Endless meetings, mate, and not enough stout.Oh yes mate what you been upto.
