Beer, revisited

Finally tried Reve Coffee Stout from Parish Brewing, it's a very nice coffee stout. Probably not a wide distribution in the US, but it's worth trying if you see it in your area. Good enough that I might have to buy some Reve coffee and see how that tastes as well. Other recent pours are Founder's Porter which is solid, but too dry for me (I like a smooth, malty flavor, especially in a dark beer) and Delirium Tremens in a can (always a nice pour).

Am looking forward to pouring some rich, spiced dark beer this winter, which reminds me that I tried some "cereal stout" about two months ago and it was dreadful. Allegedly a Lucky Charms flavored stout, it was like a bad latte when they pump in too much syrup and you can't taste the coffee. I'm all for beer that's full of flavor, but these brewers should have their banks close up shop and their breweries foreclosed out of prudence. Such a waste.

After a manic time getting to a gig... followed by an absolutely belting gig, we're at Hofbrauhaus for a second time. Yes its a tourist trap, but the oompahs oomp, the friendly frauleins bring pretzels, and the dunkel flows nicely. Plus its still open.

kinell mate, i could curl up in there with a few mugs and a book and I don't think i'd ever leave.

It was getting late so we're eating in Sternbrau, its a massive mix of old beer garden, tavern and new funky bar, a real warren of a place.

The house brew is actually pretty tidy as well.

More like a Marzen than the Marzen was in my experience.

Worth going here if you have time:

Beer and a lot of pork. The lager was served in wooden casks when I was there, sure it still is

There is a very good restaurant close to it which has their own brewery, can't remember the name tho

Seemingly Salzburg's main brewery, a very decent Heller in a fantastic location and well earned after bimbling down from the schloss.
