Beer, revisited

Worth going here if you have time:

Beer and a lot of pork. The lager was served in wooden casks when I was there, sure it still is

There is a very good restaurant close to it which has their own brewery, can't remember the name tho
Mad as arseholes this place mate!

Still rolling beer filled wooden casks up from the depths, still semi self-service, really good Marzen on, and I'm hoping to try the bock.

So by the sounds of it beer used to be very, very different back in the middle ages.

Any home brewers ever had a crack at making a gruit?

Final update, so back to Munich for a night yesterday, we headed out for dins and a bottle of very strange German plonk, followed by a session in Wirtshaus Maximillian for a coupe of Helles:

And a lovely Augustiner dunkel:

This place was smashin, there was a Sunday league team having a social, really nice bunch and rhe regulars padlock their flaggons behind the bar:

We finished off the night in Schiller Brau, a microbrewery near the hotel that served an outstanding dunkel

A final Hofbrau in the airport and we bid Bavaria and Austria a fond farewell.

We will definitely be back.

Not a clue mate, some weird temperature read maybe?
Pure pleasure, the missus wanted to see a band and they'd sold out all over the UK, so we got tickets for Munich instead. Then it got canned twice due to covid, we built the trip around that.
Salzburg was a bonus, we were looking for stuff to do and realised how close it was, and neither of us had been to Austria so its another pin in the map.
That hotel was lovely but we got it for about 60 quid a night, I imagine its a lot more during ski season.

The flights were a hundred notes each and the Munich hotels were cheap as. Well recommended.

Awesome, What was the band and how much was your drinks budget (ave ale cost please) and then food budget? Seems a top time to go, in between seasons with the gear up to Christmas. Top view that. Bet it helps when the rain holds off. Also, best meal there you had?
