Beer, revisited

Look's like a nice new boozer on Hope Street.

Anyone been in?

Had a drink here earlier today.

Pro's= nice staff, decent selection of real ales and ciders. Quirky decor, which I would describe as ersatz Victorian. Nice log fire, and a choice of snugs and larger rooms.

Con's= Obtrusive music, and not cheap, I opted for an 'OK' pint of Guinness £5-00.

Worth a visit.

You can get a better pint and a lot cheaper, next door in the Cassa.

However, you can do a decent little pub crawl around there now and not really have to move very far at all.

Anybody had this, don't know if there any Thwaite's pubs in Liverpool ? Definitely at least one in the Wirral, might check it out.

Went to the Rose and Crown in Bebington, a Thwaites pub. Unfortunately they didn't have the brown ale on, 'it's up to the mamager' apparently. Nevertheless, there was a wide selection of ales available, more than I was last there. Admittedly, that was years' ago. They must be doing something right because it was three quarters full mid afternoon. Because I'm a dyed in the wool, stick-in-the-mud, I had a pint of Thwaites bitter. And, in the immortal words of the sadly departed John Savident, "It was lovely, I say it was lovely." So I stayed on it.

One of the barmaid mentioned that there was a beer shop a few minutes away. so, up I popped, and asked if they had any mild or brown ales. So the answer was : It was if I had nailed the 95 Theses on the church in Wittenberg. For the religiously ignorant, that's a no. The ginger bearded twenty-something recommended this, yet to try it. As an aside I have had copious amounts of quince brandy.

Brewed a stout recently. I normally do very hoppy pale ales, not too strong. Thought the stout would be a change, held back on the hops, made it a bit stronger than normal. Just had my first pint of it. Quite nice. I'm a bit fuzzy though. Eyes not focusing well. Things keep moving that shouldn't be.
I believe drinking helps, but the night is young.

and bought it from the same gaff, our kid lives nearby so I call in whenever I'm at hers. It's nice, more like a brown lager than an ale, but very good.

Sounds like you've accidentally brewed LSD instead of IPA there fella.
