Bellew-Haye

Did haye have any plan for the fight other than swing wild haymakers early. The couple of times he worked off the jab with a right it connected.

Can't say i take any enjoyment out of a fighter on 1 leg getting thrashed, the corner should have stopped it a lot earlier.

yeah, i stand by it mate, i clearly understimated how badly the lay off would affect Haye. End of the day you're football fans and im a boxing fan, watching Bellew beat a completely shot and injured Haye, a formerly brilliant fighter gave me no pleasure, but if you're loyalty to everton blinds you so much that you dont think tony is an absolute wet wipe then thats up to you
Listen Bellew won and you don't like it for reasons of your own. You don't like Bellew for reasons unknown. Yes he made a good pay packet and announced as such but be honest and tell me why Boxers are in the sport. I don't think it is enjoyment it is to make as much money as possible. Bellew beat what was put in front of him against all the odds yet you cannot find it in yourself to give him any credit whatsoever. I don't know what your hatred is but let us enjoy a fellow blue winning who carried the flag of EFC.

lol wet wipe. K mate

Haye is completely shot, really rated him in his prime and dont think he done himself justice in terms of his resume but honestly he was a shell of himself in there tonight, go back and watch his fights with Chisora, Ruiz, Mormeck, Maccarenneli etc and you'll see the difference. Fair play to bellew i suppose but he didn't beat David Haye tonight, just like Danny Williams and Kevin Mcbride didnt beat Mike Tyson.

Hayes a blown up Cruiser himself. He was found out big time against Klitschko at Heavyweight. Wins against the likes of Monty Barrett and an over the hill Ruiz look great on paper but only tell half the story. I'd go out on a limb here and say the Bellew of now would have beaten most if not all those who Haye beat at Heavyweight (Valuev being the question mark - but only because of size). That being said the Haye which reigned at Cruiser would probably beat Bellew.

Father Time caught up with Haye, like it did with Hatton on his comeback. 6 years at that age without a meaningful fight is just too much. Got to give credit to Bellew though, doubt Haye expected him to move as quickly as he did, even before the injury he was swinging and missing wildly. It's incredibly difficult to adjust, especially if you haven't fought anyone in that mould for the best part of a decade (Enzo Mac the last in my book).

Thing which impressed me most about Bellew was his ability to take Hayes big punches. Shot or not the last thing to go on a boxer is their power, Haye still carries serious ammo in them gloves. Fair to say when Stevenson beat Bellew at Light Heavy he was seriously weight drained, it's actually quite scary looking at how skinny he was for that fight. The extra timber does him the world of good.

Bellew didn't know that when he stepped in the ring though did he?

Neither did all the so called experts who predicted a quick, brutal knockout for Haye

If Haye won its "Told you, He's to quick and powerful", Bellew wins and its "Hayes shot, a shell of his former self"

Is it true that Haye took all six rounds before he picked up an ankle injury?

Just read that elsewhere and someone posted the scorecard to back it up.

Reading the commments of "hardcore" fans on the boxing forums last night was hilarious. Vast majority of them before the fight had given Bellew literally no chance. "Over in 2", "biggest mismatch of all time", "Bellew is a joke" was the feeling of 95% of them. After the fight it was "he only won because of the injury", totally ignoring the fact that even in the early rounds Tony was more than standing up to Haye. I could almost taste their bitter tears through my phone, and they were delicious.

Was probably 4-1 then got injured in the sixth and lost that comfortably.

Bellew despite those cards never looked uncomfortable. Amazed that he got tagged so inocululously in the Goodison fight and yet soaked some decent Haye hits. Fantastic to be fair
