Bellew-Haye

I'm, not a boxing fan but the hullabaloo around it provoked some interest about the outcome.

So is this fake news or is it legit?:

I'd say that was about right tbh.

Not really no, he threw more but he was never comfortable
The fight would have moved eventually in Bellew's direction given age difference you would imagine. The point to ponder is whether Haye would have built up an unassailable lead by then and just need to hang on.

I'm not a big fight fan, but reading around this morning the general conclusion seems to be that the outcome was unsatisfactory from a neutral perspective with both men taking something from the fight.

Happy he won though.

Unsatisfactory is a weird sort of phrase though

For all of Mayweather's victories he won one fight towards the end of his career simply by being more aware of the situation than the other fighter (knocking him out when he went to touch gloves and not "protecting himself at all times"). He got booed out of the ring, but who is arsed?

People saying about Bellew taking his time to finish off an injured Haye - if he'd steamed in and got leathered with one desperate shot he'd have looked an utter fool. Last round of Froch vs Taylor a good example

Is it true that Haye took all six rounds before he picked up an ankle injury?

Just read that elsewhere and someone posted the scorecard to back it up.

It was 4-2 on my card - 1st and 3rd to Bellew.

Doesn't tell the story though. Bellew had a great gameplan and held his own quite easily against a guy expected to blow him out early. He was still well in the fight and increasingly on the front foot going into the 7th.

Why is there only 1 scorecard?

Also BBC reporting that Bellew broke his hand in the 2nd, so by that rational it's 1 round each before injuries.

My heart would have said Tony should have been scored more points but in reality and technically it will be about right, but either way I don't think the fight would have gone the full distance with two fit guys in there and remember it is now alleged that Tony was fighting with a broken hand which he sustained in the early rounds.

The fight is over 12 rounds , it's about condition and preparation as much as ability . Bellew apparently broke his hand early on .

The boxing press/media love Haye and always have , which is fine , but the reporting is "oh isn't David so brave" not about the fight as a whole ,I'm sorry he lost. The media response is similar to when the RS score and the "comeback is on " . Bellew prepared for the later rounds , he was always going to come strong injury or not . Haye can't carry all that 'natural' muscle and be surprised that it tires him or actually contributes to an injury . That said I can't believe there is a boxing fan out there who is surprised haye has lost 'because of an injury ' .

What I was impressed with is how well Bellew carried the extra weight. Also, Bellew got caught with some cracking digs off Haye, but he didn't even flinch.

It happened (the injury to Haye) in the 6th though, so from that scorecard Haye was up 4-1 until it happened?

If he's rolled his ankle or done his Achilles as seems to be the case then that has to be seen as very unfortunate for Haye and a real game changer for Bellew.

Glad the Evertonian won like, under whatever circumstances. But Haye looks like he was well on top before the 6th and his injury?
Yes without a doubt. Bellow strategy was always to get through the first 4-5 rounds and attack as fatigue set in for Haye.

Haye knew he needed an early knock out. He failed to get it.
