Some of the centre backs ahead of him in the odds honest to god. Ben White, Tarkowski, Smalling, Rob Holding. It’s an open goal at 20/1.

I'll be honest with you, I actually like that Ben White, and that Webster looks a decent player too. Remind me a bit of us when we went and got good defenders from the championship.

I mean Godfrey has a much higher ceiling but they are competent defenders. Eric Dier should be nowhere near that team. There's about 10 I can think of without trying who are ahead of him.

Ben Godfrey reminds me of that.

Echo saying its now Godfrey plus 10 others on the team sheet and he's our signing of the season.
Hard to argue. Can't say I noticed him at Norwich but the skill, athleticism, pace and above all attitude are fantastic.
Harsh on mina or keane to drop either but bg has to play.

His attitude stands out the most for me.

If all players had his attitude we would go far.

Give him the armband.
Agree. Keane and Mina are so important for us at the moment and are rightfully the main pair, but I really want to see Godfrey and Holgate CB snidefest at some point. I think strikers would just hate being up against those two. Even if its worse defensively (Holgate brainfarts + less arial ability in general).

Aye Godfrey has rightfully been excellent, but he has been given a great defensive platform to work from and with less attacking duties which allows him to shine. First names on the teamsheet are still Keane and Mina.

How bad must Norwhich’s other defenders have been btw?

This lad gets through the work of 2 players on his own, covering both CB and LB positions when Digne was caught further up.
