I do t remember that. I remember him saying pretty early on that he was happy to play anywhere when asked about being played out of position but that’s a very different thing. Assuming he did say it though I very much doubt he expected to play literally all across the back 4 in the space of 7 games which is the point I was trying to make. If you think moving around is helping him then we’ll just agree to disagree.

He's been making mistakes ever since he joined the club. He's just another example of players who were enormously overrated too soon by our fans, and it actually hurts the player's long term development. He doesn't sense danger, he is very poor in the air, and he is very poor and passing the ball forwards. He needs time out of the side to work on his weaknesses.

The same happenned with Holgate. One or two good games under Ancelotti and the far better than Stones shouts appeared.

Maybe our supporters will finally realise someday soon that our better players just aren't as good as we think they are. If they were, then we wouldn't be an irrelevance in midtable and the most boring club to follow in English football.

I’m just saying that MAYBE he wouldn’t look as all over the place if he actually played in the same position for a run of games and that being moved around might be contributing to the fact that he isn’t looking comfortable anywhere. I’m not stressing the maybe to be an arse I’m saying I don’t know but I feel like it’s possible.

Defenders can improve. I'm not going to write him off totally, but his performances so far this season have been so far short of what's required. The constant shouts for him to start were total nonsense.

Last season he was great and solid and won nearly every 50/50 and was hardly ever knocked off the ball. This season he has covid and since coming back hardly won a tackle and is getting knocked off the ball the time. Something isn't right with him but hopefully he can get it back and show last seasons form again soon as he has been terrible up to now.

Shocker of a pass agreed, that Holgate should have dealt with as well, but no chance Godfrey is fully fit!

I don't think we're looking enough into it, frankly. COVID has been advanced as an excuse for this lad's appalling displays this season. This then begs the obvious question: was he vaccinated before infection? If not, he has no excuse. Among other things, he did not risk manage. That's unprofessional. If he was vaccinated, the excuse is valid and he deserves time.

Would expect any of the others who were stupid enough to listen to Fabian Delph and refuse the vaccine to have booked in an appointment with the nurse asap after seeing what’s happened to this lad. Delph looking stupider and stupider for his stance.

He got covid before young lads had been double jabbed though didn’t he? I’m 33 and feel like I hadn’t even been double jabbed before the season started.

Anyone who watched him and Holgate against QPR knows what their standard is. Can't head, can't dribble, can't pass and his pace has gone. Sorry to say but he's not good enough.
