Credit to him with how he’s bounced back from a leg break so quickly. The performance he put in is exactly what you’d want to see from a player who’s suffered that type of injury. He looked like he was relishing the physical battle.

He was atrocious last season after a very promising debut season, hopefully he can kick on.

Not sure why you think putting ellipsis at the start of your sentences makes your points seem more valuable, but each to their own.

Can't really agree that circa 6 months out with a double leg break is of benefit to anyone really. Club or player.

Sounds a bit unhinged myself but I'm sure you can elaborate further?

….it’s obviously not the broken leg, but the period out of the firing line that could be good for the lad. He started really well but his form had dipped and the incident that led to the injury was symptomatic in that the the tackle didn’t need that velocity. Players with his Rolls Royce attributes can use that physicality as a measure of superiority - only turning on the afterburners when required.

i just think time out might have been ideal reflection time. Remember Carragher getting dogs abuse over the park but he had an extended spell on the sidelines (ironically with a broken leg) and came back to flourish.

So for clarity, the broken leg is certainly not a welcome occurrence but the period on the sidelines could turn out to be what he needed to take stock. Godfrey is one I had/have high hopes for.

I think you're spot on; I was thinking much the same and I had been disappointed with his failure to become a dominant force. He certainly looked more impressive against City and playing in a five could make us a better bet for the next couple of games.

I don't think he should get in ahead of Tarks or Coady and I don't think we should play back 3 every game, but I want him in the team.

His pace power and aggression gives us an edge.

Tough one but at least it's a good problem to have

People are very busy rewriting history here. This guy has been very poor since signing. A good performance against Haaland, who still scored, was impressive but that’s only a start. If he does that for the next 8 or 9 matches it might be time for a reappraisal. Shades of how Iwobi was viewed. Played a couple of good games then hailed a hero. He’s now reverted back to his usual self.

I don’t think he has been poor during his time here. I reckon he has been pretty up and down.

His main problems seem to come when he plays in the centre of a back four, which is problematic considering that’s what we signed him to do.

Always thought he was very good at left back for us.

He did well first season mate, particularly at fullback.

Strongly disagree, your manipulative breakdown of critical thinking and doubling down on a horrific take is not a welcome thought.

Maybe, being dropped for a few games, but acting like 6 months on side lines, will mentally and physically take it's toll on the player.

You're looking for plaudits for a controversial take, with the "maybe it could work out". Not a fan.

In for Gray/Gordon and stick with WBs for a bit IMO
Might as well play to our strengths
Brentford tore the RS apart in a that system
Gray/Gordon playing off Dom in the mBuemo role could be very effective
Keeping City to 3 shots on target at the Etihad is something I could get used to

Best defender at the club
