Wonder if he's one of those who got proper bad COVID with the brain fog and all that? Had a friend who couldn't explain the difference between a laptop and an iPhone for about 6 months after he had COVID and would regularly space out

Think it was he is not very good.
Pretty much on the same page here.

He had pace and he was always willing to fly into tackles. (which is handy, as he was very often miles out of position so he'd have to use that pace and fly into tackles)

Obviously, this blood and thunder 'style' appealed to many, but it didn't make him a good defender.

Definitely one of the first I'd look to offload.

We always go overboard on new signings as a fanbase. After 45 minutes against a League 2 side we had people declaring Beto would’ve won us 9 points if we’d had him since the start of the season. He’s scored 0 goals since and now can’t even get on the pitch. We just like having a shiny new toy for a bit, we really are a simple bunch.

That's a fair one, but I'll give him time.

Godfrey has played well over 50 games and has shown zero improvement in the basics of positioning. You can argue he's played along the back line, but come on...

We bought him as a centre back and that looks to be by far his worst position. Even when he was playing well, before Covid came along and slain him (and no other player in the world apparently) it was as a makeshift left back for about 5 games.

Godfrey needs to boost his confidence and value through some games if only so we get a higher fee. He could have some surprising suitors when the time comes.
I think giving him games could be very damaging to us to be honest. He seems to have a great attitude but I could never imagine him being aware and disciplined enough to play the way we do now. You never know of course but I think it is a case of promise that was never fulfilled. He has not been helped by injuries as well.

I am worried about his long covid as well but in that Doncaster game, rather than inept his confidence seems shot.
He will lose a lot of value once he hits 26 under the current conditions, hope he bounces back in some form or the other.
