2023/24 Ben Godfrey

Wanted him gone for 18 months. 10m is a pretty good fee really, was expecting more a couple of million like Holgate as he's really been poor since 2021 bar the odd decent game like the derby.

However....he still covered full back and you'd rather have him in at CB than the other two backups so he does need to be replaced.

The current FB options are Patterson, Coleman, Young and Myko so you're just one injury away from no depth on the bench and two players not far off 40. Keane and Holgate as current CB backups is the obvious disaster waiting to happen.

I hope he does well for himself, but glad to be almost rid of all of the dead weight. Godfrey was one of the last 3 pieces of it from the pre Kev era. Only Holgate and Keane left now, though I suppose only one MIGHT be sold, but thankfully all will be gone next season.

Always likes him. And put in some of his best performances when we needed him towards the end of the season.

Strange move i think though, goes to the one league in Europe you don't need pace as a CB. And that's his biggest strength, good luck to him there.
However just as Kroldrup found out, you don't really need to be good in the air there, either. Which is one of his biggest weaknesses.

Always enjoyed his passion he showed in celebrating big wins. Finished his Everton career on a relative high with some good performances second half of the season and a couple of very important last ditch clearances / interceptions. Good luck to Ben in his next chapter, hope he does well there. I hold Atalanta in high regard especially after knocking the rs out of europe
