Should we see the positives in Benitez work at Everton?

Too soon I feel. The Benitez era needs the benefit of time to truly understand the legacy he left behind.

A nuance beyond many I feel.
This is very true. I hope one day we can see clearly the dirty but necessary job Benitez did - like clearing a fat berg from the Goodison sewers. I hope this thread will grow into something beautiful full of well considered mature debate about a pivotal time in the club's history*

*The club's own Brexit...a Benexit** if you will.

**Only one letter change from Benefit. That's no coincidence!

The footballing equivalent of post Stalin Russia.

The Ale House is definitely missing a "which Dictator would be best Everton manager and why?" thread.
Being brutally honest, if you hadn't got in first I'd have probably started a poll along the lines of 'did Pigman leave us I a stronger position than before he joined?'.

I'm going to need my hands restraining at the end of the season if things go south. Or it'll be a 'is Lampard more of a disaster than Benitez' poll.

Nuance lol

This definitely has legs..drop this just as we dip into the Relegation zone with a game in hand and it will be a masterpiece

I was gonna blame Benitez for Saturdays horror show but my brain had an over ride on tribalism and said "nah mate - its the same bunch of gutless cowards who have been throwing managers under a bus long before the kopite made himself the latest scapegoat for them"

I kind of agree with my brain.... whilst the likes of James and Digne can make claim to be diehard blues who loved the club more than life itself and are now tweeting things on their new club phones - the reality is that these players could be managed by a dream trio of Kendall, Catterick and Royle and still walk round a opponents pitch wondering what post match battle cry cliche they will offer.

BTW - made up benitez has gone - but im more concerned the bigger problem remains at the club - the players. Just got to hope that Lampard has the energy and leverage to do the stuff that many fans wouldn't allow other managers.... and that is to rid us of players who are conning the fans.

Not bothered that Digne or James has gone - both made sense. Villa fans have quickly realised that Digne cant actually defend and want Targett back. Look at Digne for the goal against Villa.... surprise surprise lets in a cross without any effort to close down.

Quick question based on this:

Do you know how stupid you look by using a comparison like this, without taking into account the obvious.

I’ll leave it in your court to see if you can work it out
That's the spirit Chris, if nothing else works, then a total pigheaded unwillingness to look facts in the face will see us through.
Carry on!
