Confirmed Signing Bernard

Early days yet. Well see how the whole Moshiri----Brands-----Silva project works out soon enough. One thing we have to do is to avoid sacking another manager in the short term. Moshiri is too panic-stricken and trigger happy by half for my liking. He lacks strength, because that is a sign of weakness. Hopefully Brands can show his worth by blocking that impulse.

Koeman and Allardyce got sacked because they where awful mate.

Seriously, the only person to be even discussing sacking a new manager before we've played a competitive game... Just once ounce of positivity wouldn't go a miss once a month at least. I'm sure Dave must live his life like Unlucky Alf from the Fast Show :D

I don’t mind him being “trigger happy” when it is quite clear a managerial appointment ain’t working.

Both Koeman and Allerdyce were dispensed with not one second too soon.

The problem lies in appointing those two galoots, plus Walsh, in the first place, particularly Koeman whom was a target he pursued with uncommon tenacity and obsession.

It displays a worrying lack of football savvy and we can only hope a hard lesson has been learned.

It is early days as you say Dave, but there is sommat about this Brands/Silva team which feels right to me.

This summer’s recruitment drive has a much more modern, fit for purpose aura around it than the summer splurge of twelve months ago had.

And I am really excited about our prospects for the coming campaign

What happened to the old getting on the training pitch with the manager and a scarf eh? now we have to piss our pants while they make a fancy video that nobody cares about.
I preferred a sentence in the 'Other News' column of the Liverpool Mercury personally.
Damn this modern world!!

Anyone know why he was allowed to run down his contract?

He ran it down, he wasn't happy at shaktar for a while. Ever since the issues with the pro russian civial war broke out in donbass in 2014 he's wanted out.

Odd they didn't try to sell him in the Jan window, but their loss our gain.

I think there was talk about a move in January with spurs and Liverpool if I recall correctly. Though obviously nothing came of it but the fee was around €20m which I think put teams off.

Time will tell mate. Despite the large outlay on players last year, there was always a worry in supporters minds that there wasn’t a clear strategy to our dealings. 3 number 10s bought, no striker or Centre half recruited when we were desperate to fill these positions. Fast forward a year, the early indications are that brands/Silva have targeted talented young players with their best years ahead of them, in positions we desperately needed to strengthen.
