I think a combination of him still not being fully match fit (which is a tantalising prospect considering how good he's been) and wanting to bring Lookman onto the left side so he can cut inside (he seems to be more comfortable doing this than playing as an out and out winger on the right).

His shimmy when he receives the pass from Gylfi for the first goal is outrageously good.
He receives the ball pretty much side on, and in one movement takes it in, shifts his body and slips the pass round the corner completely taking their defender out of the game.
Great play by Gylfi to then take it in and play the pass to Richarlison, but Bernard's quality showed there.

Koeman tried to build a side around pure stats. Siggurdson brings x assists, Klaasen brings x goals, Rooney also, therefore that will make up the difference if Lukaku goes. Then we realised none of them could play together. You need players like Bernard and Gomes to knit football together. Couldn’t care less if neither of them gets goals or assists of we’re playing attacking football and Soggurdson Richarlison and Walcott are getting good service isn’t he right areas of the pitch.

couple of games haven't gone the little fella's way, but having two players in him and Gomes that want to get on the ball and put their foot on it has been huge for us as team, and for siggy in particular, it's allowed everyone else to play their natural game
