I watched football last night and my conclusion was Bernard and Digne wasted a lot of good positions with meh final balls. That work for you? Finding the space is only half the battle. It's the half he wins a lot but still only half.

Bernard put in the better performance. Also Bernard got an assist, Walcott didn’t. That certainly is reality.

We bought lots of our useless players based on stats, that is what Walsh was massive on.

They should be a factor but basically you need people/someone to have watched in depth numerous 90 minutes of a players career and also factor in the dynamics of the games they were playing in. Then you need `insiders' to tell you about someones character.

I cant see Brands doing any of that other than getting blow-drys, pinning his ears back at bedtime and making rancid tea for the FF protestors. His first summer he bought a few cast-offs from Barcelona, the 2nd waited for a phone call off anybody willing to sell 2 hours before the window shut.

Jumping back in as an American to say I tolerated Siggy last year when we lacked goalscoring and have said consistently this year that he shouldn't play.

There's really not much evidence to say Walsh took an analytical approach. Nobody who looks into that kind of stuff would suggest signings like Sigurdsson, Rooney and Williams.

You watch the highlight reels of Bernard/Gomes and you think wow, what a player. Great touch, passing, vision etc.

But they wouldnt last 5 mins at Lpool/City/Barca or any proper champions league team.

They are woefully inconsistent and like their comfort zone (home games against weak opposition that give you space).

People ignore all the challenges lost, defensive instability and the fact they are both liabilities away from home because they crave to see a little bit of the quality the top teams have.

There's a reason that we were the best option for Bernard on a free transfer and there's a reason that Gomes was easily resigned after his loan spell here last season. That reason is they are average players who on their occasional day can have special moments but also balance that out with some woeful performances.
