So many comments on here from fans saying how good Bernard is. Is Carlo the don? Yes he is. How many comments are “I trust Carlo” etc.
He’s played him zero minutes in the league.....just think about that.
He’s terd.

So are you saying you would like him again if Carlo suddenly starts to play him? Or that you don't like him now because it was Carlo who dropped him rather than arriving at this opinion yourself?

There are two options.....
You say ok, I’m with Carlo and I think iwobi is better than Bernard.....
Or, you disagree with Carlo and you say Carlo, you’re wrong, you know nothing. We should have kept silva.
What do you pick?

I think Bernard is a good player therefore it must follow that I believe Marco Silva a better manager than Carlo Ancelotti! Mate that is some certifiably insane logic...

He can still be a good player and not fit into the manager's system.

None of us know what goes on at that training pitch or why the manager has made the decisions he has. I respect those decisions but I still like Bernard.

I would be willing to wager that Carlo would himself agree that Bernard is a great footballer, as would probably most if not all professionals around the game.

My words have been slightly twisted there. I'm merely pointing out that there are fans saying "in Carlo we trust", yet are still on the Bernard is a good player bandwagon, when Carlo never plays him in any league games.
I doubt it that CA feels he is a great footballer. Otherwise he would be playing. I'm not arguing Bernard can play. He just cant play at Premier League level, because he doesn't have several attributes to make it. Yes he doesnt have the obvious physicality, which also maybe seems to hinder his ability to play 90 mins. He also gives the ball away a lot, especially at crucial moments and his decision making is poor. I just think some fans are blinded by a nice touch and a cruyff turn to appreciate what is actually effective on a football pitch. Yes, it's great to see nice flicks and great ball control, but they have to be used in a manner which effects the game. Barkley has many attributes too to make it as a good operator but his decision making is poor and that will always stop him from cracking it at the likes of Chelsea.
We can see the difference now in James who is involved in so many created chances. Bernard never really threatens to do this and I don't think he is a player who can be relied upon to perform in big games. And those are the players we need right now. Happy to have him off the bench or in league cup games, but no more. Lets just agree to disagree.

There isn't much to appreciate from a footballing perspective. He's a good guy though.
You get all offended when people are, what you think, overly critical of other players like Iwobi yet you constantly dismiss Bernard's ability.

I'm glad we kept hold of him, he'll prove useful to us this season.

There are more options than those two fella, so im assuming this is a tounge in cheek WUM comment.
I know Carlo knows more about everything related to football than i do, but I also think Bernard is a better player than Iwobi. Iwobi does have traits Bernard is lacking though, and Im assuming those traits in Carlos mind makes up for Iwobis deficiencies compared to Bernard in other areas. And he’s probably right, as hes one of the best mamagers in the world and im clearly not.

I was definitely a few pints in when making those comments

Managers, even the best ones, are not always right. Actually, because they are so successful, they are stubborn and stick to their guns rather than admitting they were wrong or letting a player prove them wrong. Such is the case with Zidand and Mourinho.

Carlo has never struck me as that kind of manager though. I trust Carlo not because of his success, for successful managers may mistakes too, but because of his approach. He likes quality and gets the most out of his players by placing them in situations to succeed.

I don't know much about Bernard, but our attacking front 3 is really good. Iwobi is more of a real winger so it makes sense he comes in for Richy. Now maybe he could come in for James in the second half but when fully fit, that role goes to Gylfi.

I hope we get to see him get some playing time, but it's definitely difficult.

Iwobi this season is over half the way to Bernard's top season for goals+assists and he's played like 5 times.

And Iwobi is a better player without the ball too.

You're infatuation with Alex Iwobi is really really weird.
I wouldn't be arsed if we sold him right now but he's also more useful than Bernard. Which is of course why Iwobi was playing last weekend and Bernard was being flung at any potential suitor for next to nothing. Personally my preference would be for Gordon to be the main backup and bench option but Carlo seems to really believe in Iwobi and he's honestly aside from a very strange showing at Palace rewarded the bosses faith.

I wouldn't claim to know the ins and outs of Evertons transfer business, how come you're ITK if you don't mind me asking.

You massively over rate Iwobi, I reckon you'd struggle to come to terms with it if he was sold.

FWIW I reckon both players could contribute this season, just don't see why you get all protective over criticism of Iwobi and then give Bernard's both barrels at every opportunity.

Seems like you want one rule for yourself and a different one for everyone else.

Because Iwobi is called a lazy donkey and even when Bernard is playing absolute trash it's all gentle criticism because he's a good lad. Find that to be a bit annoying. I also just generally think people have it figured wrong.

And Bernard being on the brink of a move is common knowledge.

I probably do overrate Iwobi but it pales in comparison to what has been said in these threads over the last three seasons. I've seen posts saying he wouldn't look out of place in City's team. Please. All I'm saying is maybe Iwobi has some use and isn't the worst player ever.

Did he also match Bernards stats in bothced passes over a season in those five games?
Like everyone, Iwobi looks better with better players around him. I bet Bernard would do better this year than last if he played with Allan, AD and James too. I dont dislike Iwobi, but he doesnt seem to know what hes doing half the time he’s playing.

Last season (can't use this one as Bernard hasn't played a league game) Iwobi gave the ball away less frequently.
