Ecclestone is getting more and more like grandpa Simpson everyday. Crazy old man shouting at nothing.

There's an interesting poll in the Guardian that suggests that Ecclestone's views broadly are supported by a swathe of people (not that they think Putin is great or Zelensky a clown, but that we need to get back to normal and not prolong this war and ruin our own economies...which I think was Bernie the Gnome's real position underneath it all).

"But ECFR’s polling showed a clear divide between Europeans who want peace as soon as possible (35% across the 10 countries), and those who want justice – defined as restoring Ukraine’s territorial integrity and holding Russia to account (22%).
A third “swing” group, who share the anti-Russian feelings of justice supporters but also the peace camp’s fears of escalation, accounted for about 20% of voters, the report found – with major distribution differences between countries."
You're right about Ecclestone. But the issue is that Ecclestone has inadvertently stumbled upon something and he's said out loud what most/many believe to be the case: we want the world to go back to some semblance of normality and peace rather than escalation to prevail.Ecclestone was out of touch 20 years ago. I am not surprised at his comments. He's already shown himself to be a racist and a misogynist. Probably hates gays too-in fact anybody who isn't white and male.
His idea of not prolonging the war appears to be allowing Russia to take over Ukraine - a sovereign nation in its own right.
There's been polls and actual elections that show a "swathe of people" support many, many different things that they absolutely don't understand Dave.
