I've lived in Yorkshire now for a fair few years - I'd say their Chippies are Fish and Chip shops. With the extras being sausages and pies and that's it. They've always had curry and gravy too though. None can ever do any half decent mushy peas either.

Their fish cakes have actual chunks of fish in as well. I was really disappointed.

Yorkshire do 10x better fish and chips than any I've ever had in Liverpool, but Liverpool Chippies are their own thing entirely.

It seems to be regional in Yorkshire too, as in East York’s, there seems to be only ever about a dozen things on the menu !

I usually take a detour off the A55 for that very reason when I head over to Anglesey.

Yeah it’s still called Enochs but it’s changed hands many times now, they’ve even opened a chippy up in valley on Anglesey but my advice would be try Sergio’s around the corner instead ?

I haven’t lived in Liverpool since I was a baby but when we go we stay with my Auntie and Uncle who live by the Fiveways. The chippy there is always the first place I want to go when I get in. But even though I’ve been going there for over 30 years I couldn’t tell you the name, it’s just “the chippy”. Also can’t compare it to any others in Liverpool as that’s the only one we go to. Chips and gravy, mushroom fried rice and some beef in sauce thing. Always hits the spot. Don’t think I’ve ever had any fish from there.
