Best city in the world?

Edinburgh is certainly a magnificent, atmospheric city but the architecture to be found in Glasgow is quite something, the counting house interior is spectacular for a Spoons.
I really like the gothic architecture in Auld Reekie. Makes it feel more Central European than British. Glasgow be pretty though, you’re spot on. You fence sitting Centraller.

Why is Kyoto so good chaps?

IMO it's because it's more laid back than other parts of Japan, has a comfortable feeling. Maybe this helps because I'm Western and Japanese culture is so distinct.

Update from my sister, who's not a GOT member and whose husband is a Gooner but herself has lived all over the world:

Japan: Kyoto, also really loved Hokkaido and Okinawa was nice; Kyoto was much slower, although she lived in Osaka for a summer and liked it at the time

In Europe: Florence, Barcelona, Munich

In Ireland: Galway (she lived in Cork)

Much of England was nice for her but none of it stood out

Where she'd like to visit next: Belgium, Hong Kong

My thoughts exactly mate, the old town is definitely more European and folk would rave more about Edinburgh if it was. Unfortunately Auld Reekie is doing it's best to price itself out of the market even for a day out at the moment.
I'm going with Mrs LT to Glasgow tomorrow, will be calling into my favourite boozer the Pot still.

If I could visit and spend some time there, and given the choice of 1 city, it would be NYC. Hands down.

But I am an unashamed home bird, and just adore Bristol. Unless you have spent time here, many will find that a weird choice from the whole world. There is a local saying "You move to Bristol and settle for second best, bur a great view".

Its glaring downside is the frankly, generally, second rate sport available. And its like a secret. Overseas tourists will all do the London/Oxford/Bath/Cotswolds quad. Many that venture a few miles further west will be enchanted.

But I am very biased.

That's a nice pub.
I'd live in Paris if I could.
Bit late now.

Enjoy man. I had a session in Alloa a week or two ago, best place in Alba.

Hong Kong was a lot of fun; some seedy bits but what a lot to offer. God knows what it's like now with the protests and China's tightening grip.
