Best city on earth

For a sporting city, Detroit... as the venues for NHL, NFL, NBA and MLB are all within a 10-15 minute walk of each other. Done baseball and ice hockey in the same day twice , and the city-centre nightlife in Greektown is excellent, loadsa bars, restaurants and at least two casinos if you fancy a flutter.

The problem with London though is that to live anywhere near the centre you either have to have a very well paid job and/or accept you probably won't be able to buy, or live in a bit of a dive. It's a shame.

The sad thing is that that wasnt the case up until Boris got in - Livingstone had a policy that any new building had to include a sizeable proportion of genuinely affordable homes and council ones, and previous councils had ensured they built and kept council flats in some suprisingly desirable locations (the Churchill Gardens Estate in Pimlico being probably the best example).

Loved San Sebastian, absolutely beautiful place. Got the Spanish/French splice going on too, lots of fellas wear berets.

This, really. The Basque culture of food clubs is possibly the highest form of civilization ever.

Paris for me. It's a beautiful city absolutely full of condescending fashion and art and people, but beautiful none the less.

Berlin was beast. Some of the worst food I ever had, but the city itself is beautiful. Got to see Hertha in the Olympistadion, a ludicrously large stadium for what was a second division team at the time. It was like Wigan's stadium being Wembley. Cross a road without a green man and you'll be subjected most intense public judgment in the western world.
