This guys relatively new(ish) and has the talent to go down as an all time legend. He's currently making more live instrument based stuff though. He's a neuroscientist in real life but is some freak musical prodigy as well (jazz pianist) who uses mathematical equations to help him compose his music.

The album this was on was at the top of lots of albums of the year lists a couple years back.

Great headphone music.

There is a few in the 'clever electronic gang', Objekt studied maths at Oxford, Call Super studied visual art. They are all best of pals.

Too broad to sweep, Kraftwerk went forward and took ages for influences to develop. No mention of Manuel Goettsching? Maurizio von Oswald, and, for absolute fs, Juan Atkins? Without who electronic music would have stagnated another 10 years such is his influence yet hd gets little to no acclaim, model 500, infiniti, 3mb amongst aliases, his work developed anyone from Goldie to 4 hero to the track below from fugue, a track I was actually listening to when I opened this thread. There is little chance Jeff Mills would be on that list without 'magic' juan atkins...

i thought i knew my stuff but never heard of any of these...the piece you linked sounds pretty good. I googled Göttsching suspecting him to be a krautrocker and lo, Ash Ra Tempel

check dis out, mään

Prodigy by a mile for me. Prodigy - Rock am Ring is about the only gig I never went to that I actually watch on you tube.
Jean Michelle Jarre, Chem Bro's, Moby, Aphex Twin are also old favourites of mine.

Would also add Jam and Spoon to the list.

That's like johan johannson's stuff, he died recently, brilliant musician, did some soundtrack stuff too.

then there's these...

I could go on and probably will... :)

There's a track called Magneto from La Monde which is similar to this Carl Craig piece, a bit darker but same trippy floaty vibes. I've got it on CD but no sign of it online.

In lieu of that then:

Bet this poll is rigged so that Kraftwerk win..

lol i think they'll win because they're übersynonymous with electronic music. Tho' my favourite piece might be this one, a bit less electronic:
