"Electronic Music" is too wide a brief.

But I'm gonna chuck these into the ring anyway:

Suicide:

and Silver Apples:

Both true originators with as much claim to be on that list as Delia or Kraftwerk, who are both heroes of mine.

Like how you managed to jam Psykovsky in there @dholliday Would take Simon Posford over Vasily to represent the psy genre though.

haha. Simon Posford representing both Hallucinogen & Shpongle almost made the cut. He's deffo up there.

Interesting links, haven't heard of them before. Suicide sounds like a synthy machinedrum Sonic Youth. Silver Apples sounds great!

Suicide were like punk with electronics, they were way ahead of their time, they used to regularly get bottled off stage by punk audiences. There's a legendary live tape "23 minutes over Brussels" where exactly that happens. Their self-titled album is amazing, "Frankie Teardrop" in particular is terrifying. They were a massive influence on Spacemen 3 and the likes.

Silver Apples was a chap called Simeon, who built his own instrument out of a huge bank of oscillators and called it "The Simeon", which he controlled with various footswitches as well as his hands, and a drummer called Dan Taylor, whose funkified beats on some of their tracks make them sound almost contemporary, if it wasn't for the banjo and hippy mysticism on others.

Simon Posford has done some cool stuff as Younger Brother as well. More proggy than Hallucinogen.

Have you heard Alan Vega's new (posthumous) album? One of his best solo ones.
