Have you heard Alan Vega's new (posthumous) album? One of his best solo ones.
It's like The Fall never happened lol

Suicide were like punk with electronics, they were way ahead of their time, they used to regularly get bottled off stage by punk audiences. There's a legendary live tape "23 minutes over Brussels" where exactly that happens. Their self-titled album is amazing, "Frankie Teardrop" in particular is terrifying. They were a massive influence on Spacemen 3 and the likes.
Silver Apples was a chap called Simeon, who built his own instrument out of a huge bank of oscillators and called it "The Simeon", which he controlled with various footswitches as well as his hands, and a drummer called Dan Taylor, whose funkified beats on some of their tracks make them sound almost contemporary, if it wasn't for the banjo and hippy mysticism on others.
Simon Posford has done some cool stuff as Younger Brother as well. More proggy than Hallucinogen.
ha, always enjoy these little details.
Haven't heard of this project, will have to check it out. Tho' the term "prog" in EDM is a bland-label, when you look at prog-house/prog-psy. Very boring too-cool-for-school stuff.
Speaking of (proper) proggy psy, have you heard the 25-minute epic from Vasily's new album?
Heaven 17.
Heaven 17.
Much preferred the early Human League stuff, off the likes of the Travelogue album.
My favourite Human League, almost totally instrumental...this is a staple on goa festival campsites, funnily enough:
SL2
and what?
Tuuuuuuuune
The sounds of my early yoof.
Reproduction and Travelogue , aren`t fashionable anymore, as people just think of the Human League, as " Don`t you want me baby ".
But they`re both belting albums, real dark synth and just Phil Oakey, as he hadn`t split from the rest who become Heaven 17 / the girls hadn`t joined yet.
In saying that, I love the Dare album too. ( the Sound of the Crowd etc )
Have you heard Gary Numan`s new album - Savage ( songs from a broken world ) ?.
It`s a cracker and reminds me very much of the early Human league
injected with a poison!
i'm the one & only dominator
james brown is dead
music maestro, please!
i love the synths in Cars, it's a Polymoog and i've always fancied bagging one but the ones on Ebay are either always totally knackered, or it's the low-spec one with hardly any knobs/sliders. i'll have to check his newer work out.
