Used to get played loads in Manchester, but not so much in Liverpool for some reason ?

Depends were you went I think. I used to open many a set with this then symbols and instruments, venue had to be appropriate, dark, dingy and moody, plenty of dry ice and strobes... ;)

808 State deserve and honourable mention.

As do, Death in Vegas.

80 was and is a stunning album, got hammered when it come out, though I would press for Pacific State from Quadrastate, the opening track Magical Dream is kin amazing, their use of samples on that album was absolute choice.

Erm, 90...fat fingered freak....

Not sure if they compete with these fine groups but I love Gary Numan and his band Tubeway Army, there are some electronic elements in their music at least. Wouldn't beat the groups in the poll but I think they deserve a little mention.

Been mentioned mate, his new album is superb if you haven`t given it a whirl - Savage ( songs from a broken world ).

A change of direction musically - dark and apocalyptic, with Middle Eastern influences, but still very listenable.

It's a tough one because I've been listening to a fair bit of Chemical Brothers recently, and I really like Daft Punk, but I'm going for the Prodigy because I saw them at Leeds 2003 and they were brilliant.

Also, Carpenter Brut are boss. Seen them live a couple of times.

lots of votes for Daft Punk but I think you're the first to actively mention them in any way. not my thing but i can see the appeal.

Loved kraftwerk back in the day,
cabaret of Voltaire decent. As well.
Actually quite liked sparks as well and Gary numan who I thought had a lot of decent stuff.
Warm leathette is one of my all time favourite tracks.
Liked early Ultravox.
John foxx, in the garden album was really good as well.
