Best male vocalist….

From the sixties/seventies I remember several singers with distinctive voices rather than great voices. Jack Bruce, Cat Stevens, Johnny Cash come to mind. Likes of Elton John, Bowie or McCartney had really pure voices.

Difficult to pick just one as different singers have different strengths.

Mercury, Paul Rogers, Marvin Gaye all great shouts. I saw Sam Smith there and I know he's a bit of a meme these days, but from a technical standpoint, he's a fantastic vocalist.

I'm going to throw Joe Cocker into the mix. Probably not the best from a technical standpoint, but for pure passion and soul there's not many who come close.
This for example, he's not just going through the motions and singing a love song, you genuinely believe he means every word he's singing:

🥲

Bobby Womack
Curtis Mayfield
Marvin Gaye
Marvin Jnr.(Dells)
Philippe Wynne
General Johnson
All good calls, i'd also add Alexander O'neil, Luther Vandross,George Benson, Russell Tomkins jnr and Howard Hewitt. David Grant was underrated too although Jackie Graham helped out big time. My off piste shout is George Clinton.....seriously loved his voice😃
