I don’t think we should be using our centerbacks as the measuring stick.

Still, no, they wouldn’t have let him past on his goal.

The more encouraging bit was the header even though it didn’t go in.

I’m not disparaging the guy, but the Doncaster match isn’t necessarily a sign of things to come.

But our centre backs are PL CB's and there are a lot more like them in the PL. He has the strength and pace to go by them and if he can't then a possible free kick.
He will cause problems like DCL does but the main thing is the number of goals he can score, regardless, he will make us a better team just through occupying CBs

Never thought I would say this but maybe a Beto / Maupay partnership is a serious option for a mid match tactical change...

Maupay was never going to work as a lone striker with the way we play, but I agree, with Beto to play off of might have a role to play. Makes me think of something like a Hesky/Owen partnership.

Certainly not going to get carried away over a decent performance against the bottom team in league 2. We will know more when he comes up against premiership defenders and see how he performs then.

As much as I agree bottom of league 2 is like Sunday league defenders and he ram through them like they didn't exist. However him DCL and this kid from sporting give a little hope
