You need to look at that match again. I saw a player who closed down the Forest defence for 84 minutes and never allowed them to settle on the ball and got on the end of a couple of chances that he could have done better on...and he knew it too by gesticulating to everyone that he knew he had to get over the ball to keep it down.

McNeil and Doucoure benefitted massively from his presence up front.

Is his movement great? No. But I saw him once or twice on the shoulder of a defender on the edge of the area and turning them but no through ball came for him.

He was part and parcel of that battling performance last night and one of the reasons we dominated Forest and made a mockery of their very decent home form and had their home fans booing their own players at the end.

We have short memories mate. This is a game we may have lost or drawn at best without as centre forward last year.

Imagine playing Demari Gray up front in that type of game yesterday.

We got a draw and couldn't hold on to the lead last March at that ground.

We stopped Forest coming back yesterday and it was a team effort to do that, from Beto pressing their defence to Pickford's saves.

I thought the Everton woman player in the Sky studio last night made some good observations and one of them was that we're a team not afraid to make mistakes and get it out the way and not let it bother us.

That's Dyche's imprint right there.

He'll know what a good job Beto did even if some on here done see it.

It’s always the way isn’t it, some fans are from the Opta generation and if it’s not an assist or a goal, they struggle to see value, but football, as well as being about on the ball skill has always been about off the ball….the creation of space through intelligent movement and what a player does in their defensive capacity. I see a guy who adds value to that end if not much on the ball.

All of that mate agree completely, its a team we can finally identify with and get behind, enjoyed the game last night, was a real throw back, how many years has it been since we won a battle on want and its only since this manager came in. We've out battled Forrest, WHU and Palace at their places in recent weeks if your doing that in this league you will be more then all right.

You look at the bigger picture with Beto, he gave us a focal point, he occupied two Centre half's, two ended up injured, one had to go off and his replacement was blessed not to get sent off. He was a foil for McNeill and Harrison - especially when McNeill moved to the Centre. He balanced the system.

I thought we missed what he brought when he went off.

End product was the thing, he should have scored keeping that shot down, some of his passing and decision making in the heat of battle needs to be crisper - i put that down to him adjusting to the pace of the league that game last night was frenetic.

Hes trying very hard on end product, prob too hard.

Totally agree Dave, stats aren't the be all and end all, he got a great ovation on his substitution from our amazing travelling support, they would have seen even more the tireless running that we only saw a glimpse of.

He kept their defence occupied and whilst he didn't score he was still effectual and chipped in with a hard shift.

3 months in the country getting acclimatised. Anyone who thinks they can write him off are 'kin spanners.

These people will go missing when he hits some form. Guaranteed.
He will score a few goals this season, he just needs that first one.

It also doesn't help when you getting the odd few minutes here and there plus yesterday he probably knows once DCL is fit again he's back out the team, he's probably trying too hard in some respect.

He always puts a shift in but maybe needs to take his foot of the gas a little chasing lost causes and save his energy for when the opportunity arises.

Yes mate, the response from our fans when he was subbed showed how they knew he'd put a decent shift in. I said it in the match thread, but he certainly gave their defenders something to think about - it was really only his (fairly desperate) shooting that let him down. But he played his part in a tough, battling team performance.

And if we hadn't signed him in the summer, chances are we'd have had Maupay up top yesterday. And while he scored yesterday... can we imagine how that would have panned out? Forest defence could've brought their sandwiches.

There is no doubt he put in a shift, he did as you say but can we afford to spend £21 million on a work horse when we have an injury prone centre forward. Hopefully you are right and I am wrong, I would love to see the lad flourish and score regularly, he seems to want to play. It is just that I haven’t seen the quality required to play at Premier League level.

I think both your post and @davek post are correct.

Based on ( admittedly it is a relatively small sample size) what I have seen he works extremely hard but is technically very limited and perhaps not at PL level
