I can confirm this has as much chance of happening (actually about 15% increase) than my overly optimistic prediction

I hope so ..Are we even trying to Joey?
We’re talking about 2 completely different things here I think. Of course it’s possible for us to play the odd through ball, we always do and did under dyche too (I can think of at least 5 one on ones DCL was played in for earlier in the season) but that’s not the same thing as not asking the striker to play with his back to goal. Holding the ball up is currently a massive part of what we ask a striker to do quite simply because we don’t progress the ball or keep the ball well enough for it not to be. That is the point I was addressing. We NEED the striker to do the donkey work because otherwise we will just surrender possession over and over. You can say ‘just do what Armstrong did’ (no coincidence that that was against a lower league side who made it a little bit too easy to do) but doing it once, twice, even half a dozen times a game wouldn’t change what we’d need from the striker in the main over the 90 minutes. To not understand that is to not understand football as a sport to be honest. If this was Dyche then yes I'd agree but we were certainly playing differently under Moyes against Spurs. The guy is still going to have to play some time with his back to goal but in the final third or on the counter we certainly don't have to play like that. You're exaggerating the change involved to play the types of passes that Armstrong played against Peterborough. We've also played on the counter to Beto's strenghts in flashes, see for example his goal against Newcastle. We can mix the football up it's not one or the other style of play. Anyway DCL isn't playing again this season so we are going to have to start playing a bit more football and play to Beto's strengths if we want him to get on the score sheet more often.
Don't know how you can say that when we haven't started him for a full season like Dom.
His 4 league goals in a season and a half mostly are from the handful of matches he started and then the rest are subs appearances.
People will make every excuse under the sun for Dom and then come out with nonsense like this.
This is just an excuse. He's played 44 games. He's not good enough. When he's started he doesn't score
Chermiti passed him by last season as well. If he had the ability to score a bunch of goals he'd be playing, Dyche may have failed this season but he would have started him if only for self-preservation.
He already has a name, and it's four letters long. S H I - oh wait, I think that's the autocorrect spelling, my bad.Come on Beto. This is the chance to make a name for yourself son!
Watch a fair amount of games. Portuguese league is only slightly better than the Scottish league right now. I’m hoping someone spends a massive amount on that Gyokeres at some point as don't think he’s worth more than the 20 odd mill sporting paid.To be fair to him, having been to a mid table Portuguese first division match, he would be absolutely fine there as well. As it was turbo garbage.
No. It is a terrified managet not getting the best from a capable group. We don’t only play this way to get a tune out of DCL. I’ve said before I think a lot of people look at the way we play the wrong way round - we play basic football and use a target man because we lack the ability to play another way. It’s why we still ended up playing the same way with people like maupay up top, it’s not necessarily a conscious choice it’s just what happens when none of your players can pass or find space.
He’s also more than capable of finding the net in that Niasse kind of a way.All we can do is getting behind him today.
If the crowd encourage him he'll be nuisance for them if nothing else.
He’s also more than capable of finding the net in that Niasse kind of a way.
In a "bouncing off this back side" kind of way. He’s also more than capable of finding the net in that Niasse kind of a way.
Just a raw determination to get the ball over the line in whatever way necessary. In a "bouncing off this back side" kind of way.
