Was sat near the dug outs last night and was quite shocked after Southampton scored to hear Ian Woan scream, “Beto! Beto! That’s all on you!!” Not sure how that is leadership or helpful in any way.
After that, both Woan and Dyche were hammering him the whole game as a succession of hopeful/hopeless balls were launched in his vague direction and he unsurprisingly struggled to do anything with them. As they were clearly blaming him for everything, I wasn’t surprised they took him off, and even less surprised that Ndiaye struggled even more to do anything with the “passes” now launched up to him instead. Strangely, once McNeil had been moved into the ten role, I’m sure we might have seen the best of Beto - or at least finally played to his strengths - but by then of course he’d been dragged off.
It’s absolutely no surprise that his confidence is shot.
