2024/25 Beto

Was sat near the dug outs last night and was quite shocked after Southampton scored to hear Ian Woan scream, “Beto! Beto! That’s all on you!!” Not sure how that is leadership or helpful in any way.

After that, both Woan and Dyche were hammering him the whole game as a succession of hopeful/hopeless balls were launched in his vague direction and he unsurprisingly struggled to do anything with them. As they were clearly blaming him for everything, I wasn’t surprised they took him off, and even less surprised that Ndiaye struggled even more to do anything with the “passes” now launched up to him instead. Strangely, once McNeil had been moved into the ten role, I’m sure we might have seen the best of Beto - or at least finally played to his strengths - but by then of course he’d been dragged off.

It’s absolutely no surprise that his confidence is shot.
Ironically the best i have seen of Beto was the last ten minutes agaist Tranmere, when sherif came on and played in a partnership with him, looked a different player.
Then again Dyche had left the game by then so he will not have seen it.
He is limited but thought he did OK last night
Fail to see how anybody could look good on there own with the ball getting lumped up to him with two central defenders on him and no support, not just Beto anybody in that position.

I saw this too, woan and dyche were berating him all half, no idea what they were telling him to do, dyche was making some sort of hand gesture like go forward sideways back? Beto looked like he wanted to chin them, don't know what he was meant to do spent the game chasing the ball like a dog with a tennis ball with their defenders playing it between themselves with no help from anyone else
If they're telling players to go forward sideways back in not surprised they all look confused 😂

Beto is clearly not that great but his three goals this season have come on 83, 86 and 92 minutes which suggests to me the one thing he can do is grind down and outlast defenders with his physical style.

If you’re going to start him it totally wastes what little he does give you to then bring him off, especially if you’re not replacing like for like.
