Big 4 monopoly

does anyone else think the domination of the big 4 clubs might come to an end entirely in the recent future (and i don't mean just us replacing liverpool), i'm no expert on the finances of football, but they don't seem to be heading in the right direction. here's how i view the situation, feel free to correct any errors i might have made:

Chelsea: their success is pretty much entirely due to Roman Abramovic's personal financing of the club. I believe i'd read somewhere that they had a plan to become profitable again sometime within the next 8 or so years, but that plan was contingent on them winning the champions league atleast once, which is growing increasingly unlikely. it seems by the time Roman either kicks the bucket or just gets bored with the club, they'll be a financial wreck that no investor would want to touch.

Liverpool: We all know about the redsh*tes financial woes so i'm not going to go into too much detail, but essentially if the current owners keep sucking them dry there's really no hope for them. Even if the DIC buys them out, i'm sure after a brief initial period of prosperity they too will begin leeching all of the clubs funds for their own profits (probably to keep funding their holy wars), i really don't see much future for them in the league.

Manchester United: the glazers are out to make a profit, and while i don't know the details of it too well, as i understand it their finances are a mess. all of these american companies are out to turn a profit, which means rather than hanging on to an unprofitable endeavor, they'll have no problem taking what they can from it until they wash their hands of it completely and leave the club to pick up the slack.

from what i've read, arsenal aren't having any real financial troubles, i guess avoiding english players at all cost is working out well for them.

I don't think anyone could have guessed that Leeds would be 8th place in league 1 today, back when they were in the Champions League semifinals in 2001. while these clubs may be seen as untouchable (save for the sh1te perhaps) today, who knows what the future would hold, and in 10 years time i wouldn't be too surprised to see 1 or 2 of these teams have their targets shift from qualifiying for the Champions League to promotion to the Championship.

Won't come to an end because of us, our turnover is laughable next to them, and that's really what matters.

Would take a 10 year period of periodical trophy winning to gain more fans to increase the turnover. I hope that we are headed that way!

i didn't mean that we'd break the monopoly ourselves, i just meant they'd drive themselves to self-destruction, making room for us, basically the way i see it is all we need to do is stay where we are and let the foreign investors ruin their clubs, but i'm no expert so i'm not too sure if it'd work.

abro aint getting bored, the chelsea window is a fine legitimiser of his corrupt russian cash (his puppeteers).

the scummeRS have issues with qualifying for the income they are used too, without it, somewhere has to suffer to finance the debt interest.

man ure, so long as they remain top two, they will be fine and earn enough to finance their debt twice. (70k on the gate, prawn sandwiches all round. consider)

are u talking about us going deeper into debt or the big 4?
what are the figures on our debt anyhow?

I recall figures of £30 mil or thereabouts having been mentioned. Our fan base is already growing, my daughters mate worked p/t in JJB and EFC strips out sold RS ones 3/2, obviously as we all know local support for the blues is rock solid but our main aim must be a bigger stadium, generating substantially more income, Gooners and Mancs show this to be so.

Yes we can break into the 'big four' but once in the biggest problem will be to stay there :o

well it's only efc that concerns me, tbh. but i can't see it's a good idea for any club, really.
as for our debt, that all depends on who you ask & what their perspective is. all we can do is trust the board not to jeopardise the club through excessive borrowing, i suppose.

I think that both Liverpool and chelsea are in danger of being caught up in future seasons. we are gaining on them with each season with the squad that we have and have somehow done this on a budget (cheers Moysie) but also Villa with a decent squad and financial backing and Man city with all of their millions then we have pompey and blackburn with decent managers and players - the race for 3rd and fourth could become interesting in the coming seasons.

I think only Man U looks solid up there. Although they are massively in depth, as long as they winning stuff, they'll be fine. They have a pretty young solid team.

Chelsea have an old side, and their youth looks quite crap, so they are not uncatchable.

Liverpool are a [Poor language removed] side with mediocre players and 2 big name players who are largely inconsistent. They have a [Poor language removed] manager as well. Their demise has already started.

Arsenal are not that good for a side. The have a quality first 11, but their reserves are crap. Diaby is pathetic, Senderos got bullied by someone his own age and size last weekend(agbonhlor sp?) and is generally crap, and struggles against strong players. They are punching above their weight this season.

I predict in the not too distant future, the likes of us, Villa, Blackburn and Pompey WILL be consistently in the Top 4.

I think Uniteds biggest problem is the fact that SAF is no spring chicken and the stress and strain could well start to show, what happens when he goes?

The way I see it is that utd could cope without champions League qualification for a couple of seasons without adversley affecting their economic model.
Arsenal could also cope, as they are effectively run as a successful business.
Liverpool & Chelsea aren't run as decent businesses and as such would struggle without the massive income afforded by the champions league. The fact they would have to amend their economic model almost immediately would suggest they would end up in trouble if it wasnt rectified soon.

Therefore, 2 years without qualifying, and I can see the RS and Chelsea in very serious financial bother. Our work is only just beginnning.

Agree with Andriy. I think we're a big club but unfortunately, Man Utd and the RS have sales and turnover that are far in excess of ours.

In saying that though, i think we should steer clear of comparing ourselves to much with these clubs. We have made great progress and for me, we should be setting our sights on becoming a regular top 6 club season after season in the prem and regular access to European competition. From there, a solid base is built where we are know throughout the world and who knows what can grow from that?
